Recap of class 8/7/26. We briefly started with space and worked our way into twist. We broke it down into different sections and drilled each part slowly until it all connected together. This was a tough one so thanks for coming out and working hard!

Our little sweetheart Dolores got spayed so now she’s a sock puppet for the next couple weeks. She’s doing so good about not stressing her stitches so far!

I’ve had a couple ppl ask so I figured I’d explain why you spay a rabbit:

It adds years to their life! Female rabbits are very prone to uterine cancer and other complications when left in tact. I’ve seen claims of adding 5 years to their life expectancy!

A bit less territorial. Rabbits, especially female rabbits, can be very territorial which includes scattering poop and sent marking. Spaying can help although this can depend more on you doing your part as a rabbit owner in fostering a safe and inviting home/environment.

Smell! Rabbit pee smells horrible, but a lot of that is related to their sent glands and sent marking hormones. When you spay a rabbit that can often go away after a week or 2. Not always though.

Opposite sex bonding. One of the more obvious benefits is the ability for our little girl to possibly have male friends without our family growing out of control.

Potty training! Sometimes rabbits can have a hard time holding their poop before being spayed. I haven’t looked into the why for this as much but I’ve often heard that litter training can become way easier for you and your rabbit post spay.

Hope someone found this interesting!
