What kind of men does a great nation require?

In her latest essay, Aishwarya Vardhana (@shweeze) turns her lens toward masculinity by tracing how religious texts, from the Mahabharata to the Biblical story of the Levite’s concubine, have been interpreted and reinterpreted to justify power, silence, and control over women. At the center of both stories is the mere humiliation of a woman, often using her as a sacrifice to start wars.

But Aishwarya also offers a vision of men who embody care, self-awareness, and respect. The future of society depends on the character of its people, so how can we redefine what it means to be a good man today?

Parenthood is an oscillation between fear and generosity.

On the brink of motherhood, One Humanity Fellow Aishwarya Vardhana (@shweeze), reflects on the responsibility of inheritance before the birth of her daughter. This piece moves through family language, patriarchal expectations, reproductive rights, war, and the ethics of nonviolence. Ultimately, it asks a question many parents wrestle with: How do we raise children with dignity and freedom in a world that often denies both? What ends with us, and what continues through our children?

In a world shaped by conflict and uncertainty, perhaps the most radical inheritance is compassion practiced both inside the home and beyond it.

In this morally philosophical piece, Aishwarya Vardhana explores what it means to metabolize disappointment as a collective. She argues that when disappointment stays internalized, it turns into loneliness, which turns into rage.

Reflecting on the disappointments of social media, generative AI, and the institutions that promised progress but delivered fragmentation, this piece makes us question: If we cannot process disappointment openly, how can our institutions ever learn?

What would it mean to fight for what we love using a language that preserves humanity?

In “When We Fight for What We Love,” by contributing writer and One Humanity fellow, Aishwarya Vardhana, she reflects on the art of language in a polarized America. She argues that slogans alone cannot sustain a movement. It’s the words we choose that shape our politics and capacity to love.

A home requires patience and discipline, but what else can one expect when carrying the weight of ancient wisdom?

In this reflective essay, contributing writer Aishwarya Vardhana (@shweeze) examines the tension between individual freedom and collective responsibility through the lens of immigrant life, joint families, and shared living. Her piece considers how patience, intuition, and restraint remain essential to sustaining communities. She asks what we lose and what we keep, when we forget how to live interdependently.

“If a miracle of the universe is housed in this body, why then is the pregnant woman missing from the annals of philosophy history?”

In “A Prism of Insights and Knowledge,” @shweeze challenges the male-dominated foundations of philosophy by centering a perspective historically excluded from intellectual discourse: the pregnant woman.

Pregnancy is a realm long erased from philosophy and public life, yet rich with wisdom. Aishwarya’s piece explores grief across generations, the rupture of first trimester suffering, and the quiet power of a pregnant woman’s observation of society.

Who gets to call themselves a patriot? Is it the one who waves the flag, or the one who dares to question what it stands for?

In “We All Have a Little Zohran in Us,” our newest contributing writer, Aishwarya Vardhana @shweeze, reflects on patriotism, storytelling, and what democracy looks like in an age of division.

From Zohran Mamdani’s historic win as New York’s first Muslim and South Asian mayor, to reflections on Nikole Hannah-Jones, Arundhati Roy, and James Baldwin, Vardhana’s piece reminds us that patriotism in its truest form, is the courage to love a country enough to critique it.

How do we practice nonviolence in how we think, speak, and persuade?

In “A Non-Violent Response to Violent Times,” @shweeze examines how ideological rigidity often replaces empathy, and how leveraging persuasion and not shame might be our most radical tool for change.

Published on Gandhi Jayanthi, her reflection reminds us that nonviolence is a daily act of reaching beyond ego and bias to see each other fully.
