What a dreamy opening night for the little play that could. 2019 Ahon could not have imagined that what started as little joke with a pun in the title ‘Labor Day’ could one day open to a full house in the city that ignited his love for the stage. Grateful for the family I’ve found through the journey, above all. 🩵

STIGMATA
FEB ‘25

i technically started writing this project last summer, but in some ways, it feels like i’ve been writing this show my whole life. it’s obviously deeply personal, for so many reasons. i grew up in the catholic school system, as well as haunted houses (in more ways than one), so this show is truly a conglomeration of so much of my life experience. i’ve tried to write many versions of this show but none of them felt right until now.

there’s so much stuff going on in the world that is deeply horrifying, and as a young woman, it feels so often like it is out of my control. control of our own bodies are taken away from us and being yourself is often out of the question in so many contexts. i think that along with my high schools closure was the stars aligning for this show and piece.

to the cast, thank you all for taking this show and running with it. you took these characters to levels and places i could’ve never imagined while on paper, and brought them to life with such love and care. i love you all so much and cant thank you enough for your talent and light (and humor) in the rehearsal room. and to my team. thank you so much for dealing with the blood, sweat and tears (literally) of this show. it was a MONSTER of a show but you all handled it with such love. all of you are such fierce, exceptional, fierce women (and tin!) and i am so blessed to have worked with you.

although i wish we had our conradi residency, stigmata #never dies. thank you to everyone who saw the show or engaged with it at all. it means the world to me that you enjoyed pieces and fragments of my world.

Guys, I swear Sloane is nice.

Thank you a thousand times over Maddie, Side B, Casey, Ashlie, Emily, every single individual involved with this show. It was such a pleasure to be a part of. This show is why I love theatre. The past few months being chronically ill (and then this week getting an INFECTION) while going through what felt like losing my love for theatre made life seem impossible, but when I needed it most, STIGMATA landed in my lap. I could not possibly be more grateful.

And what a stacked cast. It was such a privilege to get to work with every single person on this team and to learn from everyone. You are all so talented it blows my mind. I think this show is going to make a lasting impact on FSU student theatre.

Thank you Maddie, for trusting me with Sloane, that crazy bitch. It was such an honor to get to play the villain every night and explore her crazy character arc. RIP Sloane, you will always be famous.

All this being said, STIGMATA will stay in my heart forever. I’ve learned so much about myself as a person and actor through this process and am so thankful that I was given a safe space to pursue this. I’m crying as i’m typing this (😃) because I still can’t believe I got to work with you all. Thank you thank you thank you. 🤍
