after five months of thinking, writing and painting, my first ever solo show “PURITY PRINCESS” was on display a few weeks ago. i was incredibly nervous having never been so vulnerable in my art before as i was in this series, put simply, about growing from a girl into a woman, trying to figure myself out and who i was while under wandering eyes and unwanted attention. originally, i made this series just to provide myself some sort of release, but i was met with so much love and resonation. i was confused at first when people were thanking me for making what i made. i understand more now, but it’s still hard to accept the possibility of any impact i could’ve made on someone, let alone people.

i’ll be posting the whole series and an immersive video experience of the gallery soon @sidneepaigee so be on the lookout! thank you for all of the love. i am so so grateful. more to come!! <33🧸🎀

Sidewalk chalk art is temporary, and that is one of the reasons it's so beautiful. Last year the world lost a beautiful soul when Vi Moala was taken from this world and his family at age 30 -- way too soon. The family met artist @sidneepaigee at the Chalk It Up Festival last year and asked her to commemorate his life while celebrating his high school football career at @grant_union_high_school .

This is his family with the mural, and photos of Sidnee creating it. The last photo is his baby💔😓❤️🪽

It's been a minute since we shared these photos and thought it would be a nice way to send some thoughts to Vi's fam, send some love and followers to artist @sidneepaigee , and remind you and ourselves to make the most out of EVERY MINUTE of this life.

The artists and the poets are here to remind us of life's beauty, even when it feels temporary.

Final portrait project for ANI 111: medium: Graphite, white illustration board

One of my favorites ; the concept is “Armor”. I interpreted this idea as something that protects you… something you want to cherish. I wanted to relate this to childhood; weaving the playfulness and innocence of it together. Being able to have this outlet of expression is important to me because it has influenced who I’ve become and am today.

Thank you @sidneepaigee for being my model for this project! 🦸‍♀️😎🤟

Today, ARTners announces our "2023 Visual ARTnerships" awards open for any regional Sacramento high school seniors...

Our nonprofit created our scholarship award program opportunities for those who are 'self-identified' ARTners (those seniors who are on the creative path).

As practicing professionals in many creative community actions, we know the journey of being inspired by passion & we would like to help out.

https://artners.org/scholarships/

This weekend in the Chalk it Up festival, one of our "2022 Visual ARTnership" awardees was in action. Her Gpop came out to see her in action & stopped on by to check out mine/ours (ARTners) 50 squares away... We're out here too!!!

We have two artists joining us in the Chalk It Up Youth Art/Music/Chill space in the Youth Arts Exhibition at the California State Fair today - Sidnee Boyd and Jason Guillame!

Jason and Sidnee are drawing and talking to people about art. And of course, because it's the Chalk It Up way, everyone is invited to join in. Grab some chalk and doodle on a board, pick up a marker and color on the paper roll, or add your drawing or message to the sticky note collage wall.

Chalk It Up board member Will Morris and volunteers will be there through the evening so please stop in!
