Wow, what a weekend!!! Third Saturday so you know where I’m at. Lol The Brothers of the Washington (DC) Alumni Chapter under the direct leadership of our Polemarch Brother @donald.greenwood held our monthly chapter meeting. We were honored to have two Mayoral candidates discuss their vision for our city. It’s important that elected officials and those seeking office meet with us as we have been a fabric of the city since 1924 and we are not stopping anytime soon. 🙏🏾♦️🙏🏾 So huge thank you to @krmcduffie and @janeese4dc. We know you are very busy, especially now.

Next, WAC Spr 26 and @kx_nupes Spr 26 new brothers were introduced. The new KX Brothers supported me as I received a Leadership Certificate from the Grand Chapter. They also served food after repeat like solid young men, while I played bartender serving the brothers. Lol

We also had their Kappa Chi crossing dinner. Huge shout out to chapter advisor @6kxsp04 for his leadership. Rounded things out with taking the little ladies to the park on Sunday while Moms got to do her. Tired, but well worth it.#godfamilyworkkappa

It’s time to meet Brother Sidney Keys! Brother Keys is from Atlanta, Georgia, and was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He is currently a sophomore at American University, double-majoring in Literary Studies and Secondary Education. He is also the founder of Books N Bros, a literacy organization focused on promoting African American literature and empowering young black men, and he is also a two-time published author.

After college, his goal is to become a teacher and eventually work his way up to becoming a principal, with aspirations of potentially becoming a superintendent. During his free time, he enjoys working out, exploring new food options, and exploring D.C.

The year is 2007, I’m a high school senior trying to make prom realistic as a young mom.

This is also one of the hardest times of my teenage years as I was living in a extended stay with my mom and son then she sent us to live with a family friend. This was all due to the recession impacting my mom’s career.

I’m not sure how my mom did it but she made sure I had what was needed and my big brother did too. For that, I’m forever thankful.

Realistically, we are all still living in unprecedented times (seems to be a millennial’s constant reality). So I’m always very sensitive to those who may be struggling to buy things they desire but don’t classify as a need.

I had a great prom experience and I’m glad my circumstances didn’t hinder that. I couldn’t imagine what it would’ve been like if I had access to a resource like @mm.makingadifference offering FREE Prom attire.

As long as you all are operating, I’ll continue to show up with dresses (and maybe suits) in hand to support our young people.

Thank y’all for what you do. If you’re in Atlanta or nearby, definitely support this cause. ❤️ 👗 👞

LONG LIVE THAT DO OR DIE 👌🏽

eKXlipse,

Y’all have faced so much adversity, and you proved exactly what you’re made of. Being your Dean has been nothing short of a privilege. I’ve watched each of you grow into strong, resilient young men with the courage to push beyond anything you once thought possible.

Don’t let this journey define your limits. Instead, let it remind you of how capable you are when you set a goal and go after it for real. You’re all destined for great things, and I can’t wait to see everything you accomplish. I got y’all boys for life.

YiTB,
Dean
