New Oratio now on the cloud !

cotton pills is a sonic identity of Max Rakhmatullin — Paris-based sound producer, musician, and selector. 1/2 of render’ to render again or anew radio show on Station Station and event series, member of Atelier des Artistes en Exil.

His work moves through genre-fluid electronics, spanning textured ambient, dub-influenced
bass music, and hazy percussive structures. The focus lies in contrast and atmosphere — rhythmic and unrhythmic, heavy and weightless, rough and delicate — forming a wide emotional and sonic spectrum.

Mix for Retreat is an essential collection of sounds and influences that shape the project: from
Hyperdub-associated artists like Nazar and Iceboy Violet to the intelligent minimalism of Frank
Bretschneider and Deru, while also paying respect to Detroit and Berlin techno through Underground Resistance and classic machine-driven dance music — with traces of Memphis rap aesthetics woven throughout.

Thanks Max 🤍🤍

Laughing at myself for even still doing this post :’) Around a year ago I played a set at @future.intel for a @mirrorzone.records label night and there’s something special coming soon that ties into all of this <3

If you gonna listen, expect a tension between serenity and darkness, with light 160bpm percussion, crisp processed stabs and eerie though harmonic atmospheres. If you’re not, now you can imagine

Love to the whole FI crew, the sweet hosts @zambajan and @grosheid , to @sderidd for the insane visuals, and of course @spekkiwebu.mirrorzone . I’m genuinely impressed and inspired when I get to meet people from the community you have built. Writing this I get reminded of how much it sucks to share stuff on IG, so I hope to see you all soon, because those moments are worth diamonds these days E>E>E>

Full set is on Soundcloud, link in bio. Let me know what you think, so we can continue nerding about music together 8)

Oratio #32 is now online !

For this one we’re delighted to invite @extr.emelyne 🤍

« a collection of some of my favourite intro/floor clearer tracks. deep, dark, sub heavy, dubby, textural, broken type beats with some never actually peaking. there’s always a few fav tracks i put into the folder that either get played at the beginning of the set or sometimes don’t even get played as they may stunt the dancefloor or don’t move forward in a dancefloor setting. it can work at the right time but it doesn’t happen often. i’ve always thought it would be amazing to play a few hours of opening tracks then lead into a club set although in this idea there isn’t the usual build up feeling and doesn’t really pick up in speed or momentum in a traditional sense - much like the floor clearer tracks, the broken beats go forwards and backwards then it kind of starts again. or does it? »

tears is out in the world today 💧 ironically it was written about when i was living in new york in my early 20s struggling with depression and self worth. it’s funny that it’s come out on the same day i move into a new apartment in brooklyn (in a much better headspace) after being in london for 5 years. just goes to show how much can change 🙂‍↔️🙂‍↔️

thanks to everyone involved in making this!
