A study in color, pattern, and scale inside a Beacon Hill townhouse.

For this intimate sitting room, Interior Designer Garrow Kedigian drew inspiration from the homeowners’ Scottish heritage, using their family tartan as the starting point for the entire space. Its saturated red and turquoise palette informed everything that followed, from the textiles to the architectural detailing.

Rather than tempering the pattern in a smaller room, Garrow embraced it. Crown moldings, trim, stiles, and rails were enveloped in a rich red, while layers of furniture and pattern give the room its sense of warmth and enclosure. The result is a highly personal, jewel-box retreat that feels both collected and completely at home within the historic Beacon Hill townhouse.

Red is such a powerful color tool in design - I use it strategically in all my rooms (every room needs a spot of red)- and sometimes when the client is amenable you can splash its fabulousness all around - such as in the ‘Tartan Sitting room’ for our project in @boston in the beautiful Beacon Hill Neighborhood- still a work in progress, but it is slowly coming together - constructed by @sleepingdogproperties - so excited to see some of our design components come into place- especially the @red #garrowkedigian #Interiors #InteriorDesign #Interior #tartan sittingroom color highgloss parisfleamarket boston beaconhill bostondesign design decorating color pattern texture parisflea parisfleamarket red redroom redrooms redroomlounge @beaconhilldesign @modernartfeature bostonstyle tartanstyle tartanroom

Curved, channeled and crafted to command the room.

Created by @siecle.ca, this individual channeled sectional is upholstered in our Distressed Nutmeg, a leather whose natural dimension emphasizes each tailored channel while giving the piece an authentic, lived-in character.

Its sculptural form is defined by a sweeping silhouette and floating shell back crafted from solid white oak in a matte espresso finish.

Within the space designed by @xycontemporary, the soft, naturally varied leather creates a warm counterpoint to the surrounding stone, glass and polished finishes. The contrast between tactile comfort and architectural structure gives the interior its distinctive character.
