A very special moment at @DelMarRacing this morning as Samantha Siegel (@siegelsam) received the Ed Friendly Industry Service Award, also known as the TOC Chairman’s Award 👏

Presented annually in recognition of outstanding contributions to Thoroughbred racing, it’s difficult to imagine a more deserving recipient.

Samantha’s family has been part of California racing for more than five decades. Her late father, Mace, was a founding member of TOC, and remarkably, between father and daughter, a Siegel has served on the TOC Board for 26 of its 33 years.

Samantha has continued that remarkable legacy through JayEmEss Stable, her service to TOC and her unwavering commitment to owners, horsemen and the wider racing community.

At today’s TOC Annual Meeting, Chairman @garyfenton19 presented Samantha with the award before she shared a few words of her own, with President & CEO @william_nader88 wrapping up a wonderful and emotional presentation.

For everything you have given (and continue to give) to California racing, congratulations Samantha. So richly deserved! 👏

There have been no greater friends to the Gregson Foundation than Joe and Barbara Harper. Not a retirement, but a time to relax and smell the roses. Thank you both for your generosity and support throughout the years. Enjoy! 🥂💚🩵

We started our first bowling league! 🎳 Bowlers from the D’Amato, Drysdale, Koriner, Mandella, Sean McCarthy and O’Neill barns all joined in for an afternoon of pizza and fun. 🍕🥳 We can’t wait to see who takes down the grand prize!! 🏆

🍔🥤☀️No better way to start off the @santaanitapark Autumn meet than with a visit from the @innout truck! We can’t thank our backstretch workers enough for the daily care they give our horses, but with over 500 people stopping by, we hope we added a little California sunshine to your day! 😋💚🩵

⚾️🧢🍿What’s better than a day at the ballpark? Being there for a @dodgers win on Jackie Robinson Day! On April 15th, 100 backstretchers and their families attended the Dodgers second game win against the Colorado Rockies that ultimately lead to a series sweep. Seats were tightly packed in a sold out stadium, but Team Hector Palma and Team @BrianKoriner had a blast cheering them on. Go Dodgers! Go Thoroughbred Racing!

In the somber days leading up to Pleasanton’s final closure, Gregson was able to lift the spirits, and some of the burden, for these dedicated workers by covering the costs of all cafeteria meals for approximately 100 stable workers and their families.
They worked tirelessly to ensure all horses were fed, cared for and safely shipped out to their various new destinations, even though they themselves are facing an unsure future. Our endless thanks goes out to these many men, women, and their children for their love and devotion to the horse and to this industry. Thoroughbred horse racing would have been impossible without them. 🙏💚🩵
