A few snapshots from my morning walk!
One of the many reasons I love my community (#Deanwood) is how GREEN it is!

But that last picture? A littered waterway is a reminder that we still have work to do!

Recycle more. Keep plastic out of our waterways. PASS THE DC BOTTLE BILL!

I’m encouraging my community to call your Councilmember and urge them to support the Bottle Bill. Let’s keep DC green, clean, and beautiful, from our neighborhoods to our waterways!

Imagine if all these plastic bottles disappeared. A bill is currently under consideration in the DC City Council that would make plastic bottle pollution disappear virtually overnight, the same way plastic bags and styrofoam trash all-but disappeared from the Anacostia River when the city council took smart action a decade ago. BUT the bottling companies are spending millions of dollars to defeat the #dcbottlebill . If you live in DC you have a chance right now to make a real difference for the Anacostia and Potomac rivers. Get engaged, call your members of the city council and urge them to support the bottle bill. We need veto-proof passage of the bill. Your voice matters for the rivers of #WashingtonDC. And if you pass this bill—there is a great chance Maryland and Virginia will follow the lead.

📣 I’m honored to be invited to join the 2026–2027 cohort of Alumni Visiting Mentors at the Yale Center for Business and the Environment (CBEY).

After completing Yale’s Clean and Equitable Energy Development (CEED) certificate program and serving as a CEED Program Ambassador, I’m grateful to stay connected to a community of people working across clean energy, climate, business, and environmental justice. I’m especially excited for the opportunity to give back by sharing what I’ve learned from my own path through climate communications, storytelling, environmental policy, and advocacy.

Mentorship has played an important role throughout my career, and I've benefited immensely from the kindness of colleagues and strangers alike. I've also had the opportunity to serve as a mentor for the NASA DEVELOP National Program and the NASA EarthRISE Developers Academy.

I’m looking forward to connecting with students in the Yale University community as they navigate their own paths in climate and environmental work.

Flooded streets, brought to you by Big Oil! Climate change is making rainfall more intense in DC -- flooding our streets during quick, extremely intense storms. We need upgraded stormwater systems to handle this extra water, and the fossil fuel companies that fuel climate change should write the check. Sign our petition to make polluters pay for climate impacts!

⚡️ We're going to cut utility bills for around 30,000 households in DC.

Today the DC Council Committee on Transportation and the Environment passed my bill to automatically enroll eligible DC residents in existing utility discount programs that offer significant monthly savings. Your bills are out of control. And if you're a working family or low-income senior, it's causing real stress about how you keep the lights on.

We have programs to help, but we're reaching less than half the households who could be benefiting. And when keeping the lights and A/C on and not risking everything in your fridge, this matters.

This bill will require anyone enrolled in SNAP, TANF, WIC, DC Health Alliance, and Medicaid to be automatically enrolled in the existing programs meant to lower utility bills, including all three discount programs run by Pepco, Washington Gas, and DC Water. We know if you're eligible for SNAP or TANF, you're definitely eligible for discounted utility bills.

But you don't have to wait for this bill to pass to start saving money! Find out if you're eligible at: https://doee.dc.gov/udp

Want lower bills? We need more solar! Tell D.C. Council to pass the GRID Act... so we don't all have to build solar cells ourselves! Thanks to Pete Rodrigue for the great article in @ggwash.official!
