What newer hardcore bands have YOU been spinning this summer?

Fete de la Musique in Cebu was fun this year, as I got to discover local bands again and the Cebu hardcore community was what made it unforgettable. I got to experience pure sweat, banger riffs and a crowd that was never dull. I hope I can experience this again.#

These 2 bands are currently on repeat with me. 🎧

Stab gives off a very modern brutal approach that’s super aggro and heavy, while Sift supplies more of a 90’s tinged metallic hardcore sound.

Ang lupet pareho. 🔥

EP REVIEW: SIFT – “What Lies Within” (Hostile Youth Records) 😈🔥

We just checked out the latest release from @sift.hc , and it’s pure pressure from start to finish on @hostileyouthrecords

Hailing from Cebu City, Philippines 🇵🇭, Sift come out of a tight-knit DIY hardcore scene and bring a sound that hits hard—metallic hardcore rooted in late ‘90s / early 2000s aggression, packed with crushing riffs, breakdowns, and raw emotion.

“What Lies Within” locks into themes of mental strain, frustration, collapse, and resistance. It’s not polished—it’s meant to feel real, heavy, and built for chaos on stage. This is hardcore that translates directly into live energy ⚡

Sift also represent a growing push outside of Manila, helping spotlight Cebu’s underground scene alongside other DIY acts pushing Filipino hardcore forward.

If you’re into heavy, emotionally charged hardcore with zero gloss and full intensity—this one’s worth your time.

EP REVIEW: SIFT – “What Lies Within” 😈🔥
