"A Message From a Young Woman to the World She Will Inherit"

When your 17 year old daughter has the opportunity to address the room at the United Nations, full of female world leaders/ambassadors, top-level advisors to presidents around the globe, industry executives, Broadway show creators/performers, and leaders in finance, law, the arts, higher education, renewable energy, medicine,philanthropy, media, end entrepreneurship, SHE TAKES that opportunity and KNOCKS IT OUT OF THE PARK!

Followed by her mama having to literally excuse herself from the room right after to sob for a few minutes as this was the first time I heard this talk along with those in the room! 🥹🥹😭😭😭

This future human rights lawyer has all the makings to change the world as a powerful activist and we are here for it!

This generation of young women is being raised to stand up and make a difference. Our job, as their mothers, aunties, teachers, sisters, and mentors, is lift them up, help open the doors to the right rooms, invite them to the table, and help guide them in the directions they are being called to.

We are their "Mama-Bears"...collectively.

If this talk shows us anything, this generation of young women will take it from there with fire, resilience, and determination!

Way to go, @isa.bella_demoraes! Your family and extended family of aunties are bursting with pride.

P.S. What makes this moment even more precious is the fact that she is flanked by some of the strongest and heart-centered women I know. You held that space so profoundly for her and silently prayed over her. Thank you, ladies

From the 80s to now — the conversation around women and wealth has changed. But the mission hasn’t.

THE ORIGIN STORY: How Kahera was born!

There are moments in your journey when you can trace a decision back to a particular place, experience or person.

For me, one of those places is BARBADOS.

I spent an important chapter of my life there while completing my Master’s. Beyond the classroom, Barbados gave me a front-row seat to what visionary leadership can achieve.

Watching Prime Minister @mamottley consistently elevate a small island nation onto the international stage had a profound impact on me. It challenged my thinking about scale. You can build from home and still command a place on the world stage.

I left Barbados with a determination and vision to return to Nigeria and with the grace of God, build something that will eventually transcends borders.

That vision became Kahera.

What began as an indigenous business has grown into a multinational platform spanning hospitality, luxury travel and experiences, while creating employment and economic opportunities for others along the way.

It was therefore particularly meaningful to share part of this journey at the Malta Women Summit during our session, “From Policy to Action: Converting Gender Equity Mandates into Empowerment, Investment & Jobs.”

I had the privilege of joining an incredible group of women at SIGEF Women in Malta for the panel, “From Policy to Action: Converting Gender Equity Mandates into Empowerment, Investment & Jobs.”

As the only Nigerian represented on the panel, I felt an enormous sense of pride and responsibility; not simply to share my own journey as an entrepreneur, but to speak from the perspective of building businesses, creating jobs and developing opportunities from Nigeria for the world.

One of the messages I shared is something I believe strongly: women must be included across the entire value chain—not only in leadership positions!

From the women we employ, to the entrepreneurs and suppliers we work with, to the women who have helped me physically build and execute my own vision, economic empowerment becomes meaningful when women participate at every level.

I also spoke about the importance of building platforms rather than simply programs, because platforms have the ability to create opportunities that continue long after an initiative ends.

To sit alongside women from different countries, sectors and experiences and contribute an additional African and proudly Nigerian perspective to that conversation was a genuine honour.

Grateful for the invitation, the conversations, and the opportunity to represent home.

As I helped close the SIGEF conference in Malta this aummer with my keynote, "From Silence to Signal: When a Woman Stops Rehearsing and Starts Rising," it seemed to ring true for those doing big things but still finding themselves not sitting in the chairs they are called to.

I watched nods of recognition move through that room. Women who've built real things, grown companies across the globe, led real rooms, and navigate governments. It's in some of the times when the stakes are highest that we shrink instead of stepping in.

And I'm sure there are elements that ring true for you, too.

So my words to you to help start your week:

"The chair is yours. It has always been yours. You just have to decide you deserve to sit in it "
