7 years ago I held my first ever industry event with @cantubeautyuk (last slide). Fast forward to today, I hadn’t used the brand in many years. Honestly, I’d become a bit disillusioned after some formulation changes that just stopped working for me. Then they reached out with a brand new range. New formulation, new ingredients, seriously moisturising. I decided to give it another chance and I’ve fallen in love with the new Cantu Ultra Moisture range. So it felt right to share with our @tress.ly & @tressly.studios community. We hosted two events: the @glowingcrownsclub workshop by @reformedbyrufina, helping young girls building confidence in their curls, and The Moisture Experience Masterclass by @vennerjames for professional stylists diving into the new range. Two very different audiences. One shared mission: spaces where textured hair is understood, celebrated, and invested in. Grateful for partners like @jonifa.m who get it. Season Two🤎🐿️🍂👜🐻 I’m doing away with hiding behind the things that only worked for a season. I’m confronting the fears that have kept me from putting my foot on the gas. I’m actively and intentionally reframing my mind to see my current self as the person I was always meant to be. The person I’m becoming. This is more than just a good maintenance week. This is about self-belief, boundaries, confidence, self-advocacy, evolution. Being seen trying. Putting in the effort. Being bold enough to take up space in the places I’ve always wanted to be. It’s about doing everything I said I wanted to do… and finally becoming the person I said I could be. I’m tired of seeing glimpses of myself in other people “doing it.” I’m tired of knowing what it takes, but not giving it what it requires. I’ve done a great job of floating my way towards purpose - half-hearted, but still graced. And I’ve done an even better job staying open, loving, and confident in my own skin. That part of me stays. But the rest? It’s evolving. I’m turning up the heat. I’m exploring more. I’m actually trying. I’m okay with transitioning publicly. A glimpse into the heart of DSGND 🤍 So much of what I do here is inspired by what I’ve experienced with God, and one of those lessons is intentionality. I don’t believe we live random lives. We were created with purpose. My deepest desire is for that to be realised in the lives of anyone I encounter; friend, family or stranger. When I started planning for DSGND, I often asked myself: “What’s the point?” I didn’t want to be just another hair company selling hair. Value, I think, has become a lost art in this industry. And one thing God reminded me is that the products we offer are just a bonus. Yes, they’ll always reflect quality, but it’s so much more than that! For me, it’s about what gets invested into this community: prayer, genuine connection, spaces for organic interactions, confidence, purpose and so much more (honestly however God leads me to pour). I’m currently working on our website so the Staple Unit + extensions will finally be available for purchase!🤭 To the everyday woman, you’ll absolutely love “Staple”. But please know, it’s never just about buying a wig. By His grace (and with the help of my future team), DSGND is about building an organic community rooted in shared values, like-mindedness, faith and love.
