My heartfelt thanks to Stuck Magazine @stuckmagazine and SIILK Gallery @siilkgallery for selecting and publishing my photographs in the Post Human photography anthology.

The cultural and aesthetic conception of humanity is forced into radical reconsideration. Naked reality, together with the environment that shapes the individual, seeps imperceptibly into the artist’s inner world and haunts every thought. It is at once homely and unhomely, constructive and deconstructive, corporeal and alien.

A profound uncertainty looms over humanism. A rupture runs through it, separating us from the ideals in which we once recognized our own humanity. The very definition of the human begins to unravel, fragmenting into a torso adrift in a transformed ecological and technological environment. It is a surreal and nightmarish experience, a body-horror film in which the self becomes estranged from its own flesh.

Humanity dances on the razor’s edge between past and present. Nostalgic reverie gives way to denial: we yearn for the new while recoiling from the prospect of radical rupture. Ours is a dual culture, at once an echo chamber and a factory of reproductions, perpetually oscillating between radical transformation and retreat.

Interview excerpts for Siilk Gallery.

“What I put in my work is a mirror of my psyche. It is how I experience the world. Not visually, but viscerally. It is a projection of states I’ve went through over many years spent gripped by wild paralyzing anxiety, endlessly swinging between one bad mental state into another. And I didn’t have the language for it. Hence I guess the aesthetic I’m using, which feels natural to my grim and distorted experiences. Like the right mediator. Through it we can connect, not through logic or language, but on a deeper level. If I tried to explain them in words, I’d probably fail. And whoever listened won’t be able to understand either. But through images, maybe something else happens. Maybe a deeper connection becomes possible.“
