When we started roasting coffee, we knew we wanted to build this business around people, not just beans.

One relationship with a farmer in Huila, Colombia, Wilmar Guarnizo, has evolved into many relationships that we hold dearly. We now buy coffee from Wilmar, his family, and so many others. The Velosos in Cerrado, Brazil. Montze Olvera and the women of Las Adelitas in Hidalgo, Mexico.

There’s a name behind every single person the coffee touches before it gets to your cup. Tasting a new coffee and developing a palate starts with asking, “What does this coffee remind me of?”

Maybe you like notes of chocolate, caramel, fruit, or nuts.
I find myself surprised by coffee all the time—how complex the flavors can be, and how a cup can remind you of something so comforting that you’re already looking forward to your next sip.
