A productive day for Zen Gorkha as our members met Hon’ble MLA Mr. Ruden Sada Lepcha to present a memento in gratitude for his continuous support towards the Mero Kalimpong initiative.

We also informed him in detail about the recent update placing the entire Himalayan belt under a High-Risk Level 6 Earthquake Zone. We shared the need for:
• Basic earthquake-safety training for our interested members
• Building an active disaster-management framework
• Taking awareness to the Panchayat and Samaj level
• Educating people on emergency kits, safety measures, and preparedness

MLA Sir responded very positively, and we will now reach out to DM Ma’am to take this forward.

A heartfelt thank you to Relli!

Today’s plogging drive in Relli under Zen Gorkha’s Mero Kalimpong initiative, in collaboration with @relliecotourism24 , was a huge success — and it was only possible because of the incredible support from the residents of Relli and everyone who participated with heart and enthusiasm.

Your effort, your spirit, and your dedication have shown what true community responsibility looks like. When we come together, we don’t just clean our surroundings — we inspire others and set an example for the whole of Kalimpong.

Let’s keep this momentum alive.
Let’s continue building a cleaner, greener, prouder Kalimpong — one step, one bag, one community at a time.

धन्यवाद Relli!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Kalimpong Police for organizing the Kalimpong Marathon and for collaborating with Zen Gorkha under the Mero Kalimpong initiative by including plogging as a part of the event.

A huge thank you to all the participants who joined hands to make this effort meaningful — running not just for fitness, but also for a cleaner and greener Kalimpong.

Zen Gorkha at the Job Fair-cum-Apprenticeship

We are grateful to the District Administration, under the able leadership of our Hon’ble District Magistrate, for organizing such a meaningful platform for the youths of Kalimpong.

Zen Gorkha had the privilege to participate, interact with many enthusiastic young minds, and also recruit new members who are eager to work for change.

It was truly inspiring to witness the energy, curiosity, and determination of our local youths. With such strong support from our District Magistrate, the future of Kalimpong’s youth looks brighter than ever.

From 12th–15th August, during the Food Festival organized by the Independence Day Celebration Committee 2025, Zen Gorkha actively took the responsibility of installing dustbins, keeping the grounds clean, and spreading awareness among all stall owners to avoid plastics and switch to biodegradable alternatives.

Zero-waste and plastic-free is a massive and complex challenge, but we believe that small steps create the biggest impact. This was just the beginning—one day, our hills will truly experience a plastic-free and zero-waste future.

Waste isn’t just waste — it’s a story of habits, brands, and accountability. Zen Gorkha, in collaboration with Zero Waste Himalayas, took a powerful step by segregating every piece of waste, auditing it to identify which MNCs are polluting the most, and ensuring that saleable items were sent to scrap for recycling. Every bit counts when the goal is long-term change.
