What a Night - What a Community!
A Night to Inspire raised $750,000, helping provide free, life-changing support for cancer patients and their loved ones, when they need it most.
In a dazzling room filled with sponsors, donors, patients and special guests, the energy, generosity and warmth made A Night to Inspire as meaningful as it was memorable.

During this Punjabi Women’s Storytelling Week proclaimed by the City of Surrey, I had the honour of organizing Rooted and Rising — Season 2 at the City Centre Library, celebrating the stories, experiences, and journeys of immigrant Punjabi women in Canada.

Funded by @thecityofsurrey, the event brought together an incredible diverse panel of women who are making an impact across different fields:
✨ Maninder Grewal — Banking Professional & Community Builder
✨ Baljinder Kaur — Media Personality
✨ Parvind Grewal — Director, Data Systems, Informatics & Analytics @BC Transplant
✨ Jaspreet Sidhu — Radio Host @connectmnetwork
✨ Sukhjeevan Sandhu — Licensed Psychologist

Together, we created a safe and meaningful space for Punjabi immigrant women to share stories and have honest conversations about the issues that matter to us.

From navigating personal and professional challenges as immigrants and as women, to challenging stereotypes within our own communities, to building our identities and establishing ourselves as leaders — we talked about it all.

Most importantly, this was a space to listen, connect, learn, and remind one another that our stories matter.
Here’s to the women who came before us, the women standing beside us, and the generations of women who will continue to be rooted in where they come from and rising toward where they’re going. 💛

It was a deeply humbling experience and a profound honour to attend the 9/11 Memorial Service at the Peace Arch this morning. I can still vividly recall watching the live news coverage with my first born from my apartment when the planes struck the towers 25 years ago.

Standing alongside the men and women in uniform, we remembered all those lost on those four flights and on the ground, including 24 Canadians who perished in the Twin Towers on that fateful day. In the immediate aftermath, Canada opened its doors, welcoming 6,656 diverted passengers to Gander and thousands more across the country as 255 flights were grounded nationwide.

In the years that followed, more than 40,000 Canadian military members served in Afghanistan as part of the international campaign, where 159 Canadian service members made the ultimate sacrifice. Today and always, we will remember them.

Sincerest thanks to Mayor Mike Hurley for the invitation to attend the campaign office opening for his re-election campaign this fall. And cool things do come in pairs! Who knew that both former fellow Heritage Commissioners would be wearing the same style hats this evening! Great to reconnect with Mr. Lee Loftus again.

This happened not long after @wildliferescuebc released their hummingbird within fifty feet of their release spot. I was taking pictures of butterflies. I actually was seating at the same spot as they released a hummingbird
