My third album is out! With the passing of our beloved King Harald V, all of Norway’s Grandfather (hele Norges bestefar❤️) last Friday on the release day of ‘The Gateway’, I felt there should be room for nothing else.

While we continue our silent days, I hope this special album, Ketil Bjørnstad’s unique musical universe and The Gateway’s symbolic title will bring comfort and hope to many.

A heartfelt thank you to @jadehassel and the rest of the team in @simax_classics !

The album can be heard where you prefer to listen, and link is in bio

The composition was written specifically with Sandra Lied Haga’s distinctive musical voice in mind. Her warm tone, rich sound and natural musicality inspired Bjørnstad to explore the cello’s full range while always keeping the melody at the heart of the music.💿

‘No Answer’ from Ketil Bjørnstad & Sandra Lied Haga’s upcoming Album ‘The Gateway’ is out now!»

This piece is an unconditional tribute to Sandra and her unique ability to explore both the depths and the heights. The warmth and intensity she brings to everything she does, together with her extraordinary technique, inspire me to push the cello to the very limits of its register while preserving the warmth and melodic quality that we both seek in this collaboration. If the answers aren’t there, we have to search for them ourselves.»

Opera nights are always special, but some stay with you a little longer✨

What a joy it was to see the compelling production of La Traviata by Mariusz Treliński and @boriskudlicka_official again, with such a talented cast: @perrinemadoeuf, who won over the audience as Violetta, together with @bror_tenor, @matmicha2.baritone, @annabernackamezzo and @katarzyna_szymkowiak gave us an evening full of emotion and beautiful singing🎶 Bravi!

❤️ A warm thank you to Perrine, Bror, Anna and Katarzyna for taking the time to meet us. These encounters are always among our favourite opera memories!

🫶 Special thanks to Bror for signing his album (highly recommended!). One of the photos in this carousel comes from the album booklet: it shows the Norwegian landscape near Bror’s hometown, photographed by his father. We loved hearing the story behind it and we thought it was too beautiful not to share 🇳🇴

🌟 And, as always, our biggest thanks to our dear diva Anna Bernacka for her kindness and support!💕

Leif Ove Andsnes has spent a lifetime chasing the ghost of Geirr Tveitt. 🎹

Andsnes has a lifelong fascination for Tveitt, a 20th-century composer whose life’s work was tragically, and largely, destroyed in a fire. This album unearths music steeped in both Norwegian folklore and modernist color, including the monumental “Sonata No. 29,” a work Andsnes describes as the most ambitious ever written for solo piano by a Norwegian composer.

🎧 Released by Simax, 'Geirr Tveitt' by Leif Ove Andsnes is out now in Hi-Res on Qobuz.
📹 And stay tuned! We’re releasing a short documentary on the making of the album next week!
🎶 Listen to the 'Sonata No. 29' and tell us if you hear the mountains of Hardanger in the notes.

Have you heard of Geirr Tveitt? The 20th-century Norwegian composer wrote some 300 works, most of which were tragically lost in a fire in 1970.

Two decades later, a young Leif Ove Andsnes curated a program dedicated to Tveitt, unearthing the incredible richness his surviving work.

From the formidable "Sonata No. 29" to haunting folk-inspired melodies, experience the richness of Tveitt in stunning Hi-Res. Stream the collection on Qobuz now.
