Living in NYC can make time move so fast, so its easy to neglect what you need the most, to be true to yourself. I never stopped. I have had the opportunity to accept this time as a time to really think about what I want the next years of my life and career to look like. A time to get creative with my thoughts outside of the fashion world that I felt like I was drowning in with the redundancy of what the industry has turned into. On 3/15, I anxiously jumped on a one way flight to Miami for what I thought would be a short trip. One week turned into two months very quickly. The first two weeks were very hard - sleepless nights and anxiety attacks that would last for days. Was I “infected” and not showing symptoms? Was I going to get someone I loved sick? As the days rolled into weeks I started to feel like myself again. Suddenly my attitude of being scared and worried transitioned into to accepting this time to reflect and refocus. Spending so much time with my parents who both love to garden, and gave me my green thumb connected me back with my community.

That’s when @siment0 came into inception, pronounced Si·Ment·O, based from my hispanic roots. I started exploring cement and making pots out of recycled materials. In a time when we all need to bond together, cement is a reflective metaphor for exactly this - holding the things we love most together. For now, I will be making one of a kind cement pots with flowers and plants, but I have even bigger plans for this space ongoing. My hope is to put happiness into your safe spaces that recently we have turned into offices, gyms, and our local happy hour spot. Follow @siment0 , and fill your space with some new love. 🖤SLAFFITTE
