🎾 IPSOBLTA vs Fitzwilliam LTC 🎾 The annual Courtney Salver fixture once again brought @fitzltc across the Irish Sea for a weekend of fiercely contested tennis and a full London programme that included a visit to the Tower of London and a memorable dinner at Queen’s Club. On court at Raynes Park Community Tennis Centre in the first match of the season, the iPUBS flew out of the blocks to lead 2-1 after the opening round… only for Fitz to restore what they’d call the “natural order” with five wins from the final six rubbers, sealing a 6-3 victory. Special mention to their formidable first pair, former Irish Open Champion Sean Collins and ex-ATP world No. 500 Simon Carr, who went three from three. Turns out professional tennis experience still helps! Off court, the weekend belonged to both sides. A visit to the Tower of London (including the Ceremony of the Keys), pints in The Yeoman Bar, and a memorable dinner at Queen’s Club made for a proper London programme. Guinness consumption remained at historically consistent levels! There was even a rare Irish double – victory on both the tennis court and rugby field, though Stu Shannon’s heroic comeback performance of Sweet Caroline (solo, a cappella, by popular demand) may be what truly endures in Salver folklore! Since 1962, this fixture has never really been about the scoreline, though for the record, the iPUBS now lead 32-30 after more than sixty years of battle. It’s about friendship, hospitality, and shared misadventure, and we look forward to 2027 already! #ipubs #tennis #fitz #matches #socials

Have to say a massive well done to the Carr family! They finished runner up in Ireland's Fittest Family this evening, doing themselves, their clubs, their sports, and their county proud Little did I know that when the email from RTÉ came in through the Camogie email looking for potential families that my message to one of the Carrs was probably too late as they were already in! They were the first names I thought of (and most in Westmeath would I'm sure!) and it's no surprise to see them get to the end of the competition! Fair play to Tommy, Elizabeth, Gareth and Simon (and not forgetting Vicky too!) - an unbelievable sporting family - GAA, Ladies Football, tennis, athletics, golf, triathlons, etc etc... The list is endless!

Just when you think you can predict how things are gonna go 😱😵… hang onto your hats!! It’s @irelandsfittestfamily Grand Final time… who’s gonna take the title? It takes a village to make this show, and after 13 seasons this final is still up there with the best of ‘em! The suspense, the surprises, the stress…I’ll be watching from behind the couch🤣… it was a privilege to find myself in this final with The Carrs! What a family! Here we go 💥#irelandsfittestfamily
