‘COMMON FOLK’ took the form of a 128-page, inkjet-printed hardback photobook, featuring over 130 darkroom prints, all photographed between February and April of this year across Winchester and the Candover Valley.

A massive thank you to everybody who contributed to the project in one way or another. Being able to showcase the wonderful world of British and Irish folklore to new audiences in a way that feels accessible and relatable has been an incredibly fulfilling experience, and something I continue to feel passionately about exploring through my fashion imagery.

A special thank you to the people below, who helped shape and support the project throughout its development. X

Call Out! I plan to shoot three more ‘The Other Madonna’ Portraits between March and July this year. I’m looking for three sitters who feel they embody ‘Other’ in some way and will work with me collaboratively on constructing a Madonna and Child Portrait that speaks to their truth.

Some practical stuff:
- I need to photograph you and your child/children, so the kids need to consent to the portrait too!
- The portraits are all shot on location - usually somewhere meaningful to the sitter (we will travel and bring the photography kit, set, props to the agreed location)
- UK is easier but I will consider Europe - beyond that is probably not doable at this stage
- The photographs are part of a research project that explores motherhood, othering, agency and challenge dominant social narratives - I want to work with sitters who have a perspective and want to fully engage in the process of constructing a portrait that speaks to and challenges the history of the ‘Madonna’ - bringing their own narrative to the table
- I’ll ask you to reflect on the process afterwards, this can be in the format you feel happy with: written, interview, voicenote etc.
- I’ll cover all the costs and will give you a print, with a certificate of authenticity of your portrait.
- The copyright remains mine
- The logistics are quite a lot- so please only consider this if you are willing to commit!

Time for a new textile piece - after a considerable hiatus - to reimagine my 'Lunch' etching into a looser more colourful interpretation that fits more closely to the fauvist identity of this superfood. Here I have taken the original sketch and converted it to a screen - flipping the image, but made to the original A2 scale. Thanks to the wonderful Simon Griggs and Amy Lacky for their help making the screen happen!

I had a chat with the hero’s at ‘Songwriting For Songwriters’ about my music / writing / keeping an open mind / the challenges and work arounds of being a songwriter / artist.

Plus, being in bands at Art school ( @uni_southampton_wsa ) right through to working on collaborations with @groovearmada & @brightandfindlay @athens_of_the_north @finkmusic @k7records and my attitude to collaborating with others.

If you don’t know the podcast series - you should 100% check it out - it’s run by Elijah of @thegravitydrive who’s also just released the podcasts first book ( going under the same name - available from @amazon ) I’ve loved episodes from @scottmatthewsofficial @whisperingbob @kathrynwilliamsuk @youthmartin and many others.
