𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗚𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦 by George Garzone is out today!

One of the Greats of the tenor saxophone, a true Boston legend and beloved Berklee teacher (here's a few of his former students: Joshua Redman, Branford Marsalis, Mark Turner...) George Garzone offers us one of his rare albums as a leader and he does it surrounded by friends.

And what friends...

Randy Brecker - trumpet
Luis Perdomo - piano
Santi Debriano - double bass
Jeff "Tain" Watts - drums

From the opening duo between Garzone and Luis Perdomo on 'Theme for Ernie' to the closing tribute to Michael Brecker, the album moves through hard bop, blues and ballads with music by Fred Lacey, Archie Shepp, Jimmy Van Heusen, Santi Debriano and two Garzone originals.
Recorded the way we love it: in the finest jazz room in the World: Van Gelder studios.

𝗜𝗡 𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗔 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗠𝗢𝗢𝗡 by Asaf Yuria is out today!

Five years after Exorcisms, our dearest JOJO RECORDS family member and sax player extraordinaire is back. It's already his 3rd appearance on our label (including his wonderful participation in Simon Belelty's Pee Wee).
"I'd been dreaming about this record for more than a decade," he says. It took these amazing players two days at the iconic Van Gelder Studio to make it real.

It's an even greater honor to hear him surrounded by the musicians who shaped him as musician, some of them once his teachers, now his bandmates:

George Cables – piano
Omer Avital – double bass
Billy Hart – drums
Guest Joe Magnarelli – trumpet

We can't wait for you to discover these 7 pieces moving from hard bop to blues to ballads, with music by John Hicks, Hank Mobley, Jimmy Van Heusen, Dizzy Gillespie, two George Cables compositions and one Asaf original. Featuring two unforgettable duets with the one and only George Cables.

The light is everywhere for this special day ☀️

It's Single Friday to the sound of a ballad...

𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗘, the second single from « Themes for Good Friends », the upcoming album by tenor legend George Garzone, is OUT NOW!

After the bebop of ‘Ripty-Boom’, we're slowing down the tempo.
Written by Fred Lacey in memory of alto saxophonist Ernie Henry, this tune is a favorite of so many musicians, JOJO RECORDS founder Simon Belelty being one of them.
John Coltrane recorded a historic version of it on « Soultrane » in 1958.
Here George plays it with the warmth and patience of his own true hero, Stan Getz. At his side, Luis Perdomo offers a cascade of notes over a deeply moving harmony.
What a great way to start the weekend!
Enjoy ❤️

New music this Friday!

𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗠𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗘 is the new single from THEMES FOR GOOD FRIENDS, the upcoming album by sax genius George Garzone

It's a duet between two amazing musicians: George on tenor and Luis Perdomo on piano.
Fred Lacey wrote this ballad for alto saxophonist Ernie Henry after his death in 1957, and John Coltrane recorded an unforgettable version of it on Soultrane a year later.
Here George plays it with the warmth and patience of his own true hero, Stan Getz.
Recorded at the legendary Van Gelder Studio.
Enjoy ❤️

𝗖𝗜𝗥𝗖𝗟𝗘 is out now!
It’s the third and last single from ‘In Light of a New Moon’, the new album by Asaf Yuria out September 4th.

This one was written by Asaf’s former teacher George Cables and first recorded back in 1979, in a quartet with flutist Joe Farrell. Asaf had the idea of asking him to revisit his own piece nearly fifty years later, and the band plays it fast and bright, as a sun-drenched bossa.
Recorded once again at the legendary Van Gelder Studio and featuring:
Asaf Yuria - tenor saxophone
George Cables - piano
Omer Avital - double bass
Billy Hart - drums

Two weeks to go before the new album 🌒
In the meantime, you can stream the first two singles as well
