Two days in the world. 🫀

You have streamed ‘If My Heart Had A Voice’ a whopping 1000 times on @spotify alone in the last 48 hours, 🤯 and it’s making my little heart explode.

‘If My Heart Had A Voice’ was made over a long stretch of my life, but it was never made alone.

There are writers, producers, musicians, engineers and a whole bunch of brilliant humans behind these eight songs who helped turn the things in my head into something you can actually hear.

So this one is for them too.

Swipe through for to see just some of the people behind the record.

And thank you to everyone who has pressed play, bought a vinyl, sent a message, shared a song or simply spent some time with the album this weekend.

I am entirely independent and this means more than you know. 🫀🩶🩵

There’s only limited vinyl and once they’re gone, I won’t be reprinting. If you’d like to help, grabbing a copy or a digital download during release week is a huge help. Link in bio. 🙏

Simon Cohen, this year’s Recording Engineer of the Year at the MPEG Awards, on why mentorship matters more than ever.

AI is killing the entry-level job. Mentorship might be the only thing left.

Simon is an Australian audio engineer best known for his work on Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself.” He’s also worked with Troye Sivan, Guy Sebastian, and Jessica Mauboy.

“All the jobs that used to be done by ten dollar an hour people are the first ones getting automated away,” he says. “The opportunities to watch and learn slowly as you develop under people around you are getting fewer and farther between.”

The old model is gone. No more making tea for three months just to learn how to use a Distressor.

“Being able to make those more one-on-one style personal mentor relationships with someone who does work you really love, and trying to have them impart the specifics, I think is really the best way it’s gonna work over the next coming years.”

For up-and-coming artists, mentorship isn’t a nice-to-have anymore. Simon Cohen says it’s the path forward.

There’s no room for mediocre anymore. Simon Cohen @simoncohenis explains why.

Filmed at the 2026 MPEG Awards.

“There is no spot for mediocre anymore, especially in a world where the less discerning audience can literally click a button and spin up a pretend artist with a pretend record,” he says. “There is no place to not really go for it. If you’re in, you’re all in.”

AI can generate a song. It can’t generate a story.

“There’s gonna become this moment where we as a society get over the idea of generated music, and what people are gonna yearn for is really soulful, personal things again. People telling their stories imperfectly, but with heaps of heart.”

“Give me emotion. I can put it in time or whatever, but I need you to make me feel it.”
