Five beautiful beverages, held by 5 beautiful people, all learning to find their way in this world and most importantly to each other. As children and grandchildren of immigrants, I think we’ll always be searching for more knowledge on where we come from and why we are the way we are. So many gaps in our family history. And then sometimes, something just falls in your lap; like the sign that caught our attention on the way home from our scrumptious brunch @komorebi_yyc!
A little research led to some interesting information (my sister’s family lives in former Germantown!) and connected a few dots, leading me to believe my Omi’s family were Germans from Russia. On some level this isn’t new but to discover that ‘that’s a thing', that historical societies of Germans from Russia exist all over North America and that this could be “where I fit in” is quite a surprise!
