I don’t say it often, but I think this is a Brighton hidden gem, EVEN for the vegans, AND it’s helping cats one meal at a time 🐈 (adpr meal) Although Istanbull Katz isn’t all plant-based, it’s a great spot for a mixed diet group, and the allergen labelling was SO thorough! A few of the dishes really hit the nostalgia for me 🥹 Turkish herbs & flavours are similar to Bulgarian (which is where my dad is from) and it reminded me of meals I shared with family in the past 🇧🇬 📍 @istanbullkatz, 2-3 Little E St, Brighton BN1 1HT 📆 open Weds-Sun (times vary - check online) 🍴 Turkish cuisine 🇹🇷 inspired by modern Anatolian & Mediterranean flavours 🌱 the menu is not all vegan, but there are some options! This features the vegan tasting menu for 2, with 6 seasonal dishes to share for £35. ✨ a gorgeous fresh & contemporary interior, and an open kitchen, headed up by an experienced chef from Istanbul! 💗 our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive, made us feel so welcome! Ash who runs this is v passionate about hospitality “being both beautiful and meaningful” (as it says in the website) - and it really shows! 🐱 a portion of every meal contributes to supporting cats in Istanbul, a city where street cats are a beloved and enduring part of daily life! THE FOOD WE ATE👇🏻 (faves marked with ⭐️) 1. Braised Celeriac with Quince - fresh and unusual, a nice palette cleanse to begin our tasting menu! 2. Mediterranean Salad “Gavurdağı” - can’t go wrong with a salad full of flavour like this! 3. Chickpea Hummus ⭐️ an honorary star because it was genuinely suuuch a delicious hummus, it’s done a lot for vegans but this aaa authentic and light and smooth, loved it! 4. White Cabbage ‘Sarma’ ⭐️ THE STAR OF THE SHOW - my goodness one bite and I had so many memories come flooding back - this was just divine! 5. Eggplant ‘Musakka’ - I’m a sucker for aubergine and this was so well done, loved the flavour balance. 6. What did you do for Summer Solstice? ☀️ We watched the sun setting from Highdown Hill for these annual celebrations and it was soo magical 🥰 as I arrived I thought I just had to capture some videos to show y’all as part of my series! Got me feeling like a Disney Princess 🦋✨ (adpr) episode 7 of trying new experiences in Brighton - visiting the new @butterflygardens_sussex at @onegardenbrighton in Stanmer Park! If you’re lucky, one (or many) might land on you 🥹🥰… ‼️Although you cannot pick them up, let them come to you if they want to (and be sure to check for hitchhikers when you leave)! Wanna go? Important info below 👇🏻 📍 Sussex Butterfly Gardens, One Garden Brighton, Stanmer Park, Lewes Rd, Brighton, BN1 9QA 📆 open 7 days a week, from 10am-5pm (last entry 4.30pm) 🎟️ tickets are available online or on the door (but it’s advised to book to avoid disappointment!) 💰 adults £9 / under 16s £7.50 2 under 5s £3.50 (blue light & carer discounts avail) 🥵 located in the Palm House (which was empty & unused for years) it’s now been restored and given a new lease of life! You really feel immersed in this tropical greenhouse - which has a carefully controlled environment to sustain the tropical plants + flowers that the butterflies need to feed & breed! It does mean it gets hot in there - so bare that in mind (you’re allowed readmission if you want to leave to cool down and go back in) ☀️ as it’s indoors this can be enjoyed no matter the weather - but a sunny day is definitely a bonus. You can really make a day of it and enjoy the rest of this gorgeous park: the gardens, cafe, and gift shop! 🦋 About Barry: not sure why the name came to me for this beaut Blue Morpho butterfly (but by spooky coincidence the grandad of the woman who was the first to suggest this as a butterfly house, is called Barry and he was there 🤯!). This species are among the largest in the world, with wings spanning from five to eight inches 🤩 they’re sooo stunning! And were part of the inspo (along with the Swallowtail) for my shin tattoo! It was great to meet the lovely team behind this place at the VIP opening - including the young woman who suggested the greenhouse be repurposed as a butterfly garden, the team who made it all logistically possible, and the friendly staff at One Garden! I’m doing the May challenge - I may or may not make it thru the month without being kiIIed off by tree pollen 🫠 Despite my hayfever being out in full force with high AF pollen count it was a lush bank holiday weekend in & around Brighton & Hove - enjoying so much of what this city has to offer, how I love being a born & bred girly 🥰 ☀️ day times mostly spent in my 2 fave Brighton parks = so many cute dogs (and cuddles with Crumble @cielocakery’s new pup), live music, and good food! 📍 @foodiesfestival at @prestonparkbrighton watching @officialbwitched (the first concert I ever went to as a kid in Brighton!), discovering new tasty vegan stuff + getting a new jar of my new fave chilli oil (ily @thechillitrailuk) & @cityofstarschoir (throat too scratchy to join them onstage 💔) + @stannswell_springfestival for great food from @chicken_ish (missed u) + some tribute artists in the Sunday sunshine! 🌕 evenings spent in the sea during full moon with @vegalgang & pals, or out in town grinning with some gorgeous friends 💕 📍 fri full moon fun thanks to @rubymoonswim @yogainthelanes_ followed by @julialucass coming to town 🥂 (+ there was a very epic themed party I went to Saturday night - more on that soon, it deserves its own post) For now it’s bed time 🥱 #brightonlife #brightonblogger #brightonandhove #brightonbornandbred #maybankholiday

Finally visited this spot after hearing great things about it for ages! They do SO MANY VEGAN PASTRIES + have a menu that’s mostly vegan, made by a Michelin star chef ⭐️ 📍 (adpr invite) @britishpatagonia is located on Upper Street in Islington (nearest station is Highbury & Islington, but Angel isn’t far either) - and despite being on a busy road, it feels like a little bit of calm away from the chaos of the capital. With proper little quiet cafe vibes - it’s perfect for friends meeting for a meal, families catching up, a solo hot drink pick me up, and even a handful of quiet workers on their laptops. 🥐 almost all of their pastries are vegan - we tried the Sausage Roll, Ferrero Rocher Crown (+ took the Pecan Pan Suisse + Pain Au Chocolat away with us). The pastries were light, yet full of flavour - the Ferrero Rocher Crown was a personal fave - so creamy and nutty, yet somehow the pastry wasn’t soggy & soft? Delish! 🥪 during the day they do brunch & sandwich options, and hot drinks including an incredibly rich vegan hot chocolate that I absolutely adored! 🍕 they also so pizza Thurs-Sun 6pm-10.30pm (alongside cocktails btw), AND during the day on Sundays they do a vegan roast (v keen to go back and try both soon!) What a view 🤩 (adpr invite) always an epic start to the year & highlight of my January calendar seeing @cirquedusoleil, back for another year in an explosion of colour, with some seriously talented bugs 🐞 (+ 2 very excited ladies upon discovering we were in our very own box to watch it from!? 🤩) The annual London residency takes place at one of the most iconic venues in the city! I took mum along to the premiere last week, and gotta tell you - this one is such FUN - colourful, fast paced, and as usual: features an endlessly talented cast!
