So many surprises and so much wit in this very early Haydn sonata! A piece that managed to put a smile on my face despite the pressure I was feeling while performing at the famous @rubinsteincompetition

No better way for me than to finish my participation in the semifinals of @rubinsteincompetition with Schubert’s “Wanderer” Fantasie.
Its last pages are so full of exuberance and open-hearted love, what I would maybe call “Weltumarmung” in German, and reflect many of the feelings I had also had during my participation in this competition.
What a privilege to be able to share music in a time that is so troubled for many other people.

I want to thank the organization team of the Rubinstein competition, the audience, the jury, @steinwaygermany , @kronberg_academy , as always my family, friends and teachers and of course the other participants who made this experience not only an honour but a real joy!

Cheers,
Simon

1 1/2 h notice step in this morning in Schubert Saal @wienerkonzerthaus 🫣
Thanks so much to @apsteigerwald for asking me to jump in and trusting me!
A big thank you as well to the audience for still going to the concert despite the change of program.
It was a great joy to present a recital program with music by Schumann, Brahms, Schönberg and Schubert and give a short spoken introduction before each piece.
Now back to Cologne… some practicing to do🙃

Last week I had the great joy and honour to have my debut with the Konzerthausorchester under Christoph Eschenbach in two completely sold-out concerts.

For this occasion I could not have wished for a better suitable work than Beethoven’s complex and delicate fourth piano concerto.

Preparing this concert together was an incredibly inspiring and instructive experience thanks to the sensitive conduct of Maestro Eschenbach and the chamber music like approach with the orchestra musicians.

I am particularly grateful to Christoph Eschenbach for taking the time to discuss the entire piano concerto with me before the rehearsals and to give valuable advice.
Many thanks to the orchestra, especially to the two concertmasters @suyoen__kim and Ulrike Petersen, for the good collaboration.
Finally thank you to the audience for listening attentively and applauding enthusiastically (including the two Ligeti encores I played😅) !

Cheers and see you soon
Simon

Little throwback to the final concert of Kissinger Klavierolymp @kissingersommer in October 2024.
It was a joy to end the concert with one of my most beloved pieces which has been in my repertoire for many years: Isoldens Liebestod in the mesmerizing transcription by Franz Liszt.
Here you see a short excerpt of the buildup before the climax… don’t know why the camera suddenly zooms out when the culmination is reached… enjoy! 🥳

Funérailles by Liszt… for some people a mediocre piece… but anyway with so many beautiful moments! 🌝❤️

Some pictures from our first appearance together as a newborn Piano Trio 🐣 We had a wonderful time in Stockholm playing for @vpbankag with music by Brahms, Schumann, Liszt and Piazolla.
Now looking forward to 6 more concerts together to be announced very soon!

Beyond happy to announce that I will have my debut concert with Konzerthausorchester Berlin at @konzerthausberlin next year (March 28 & 29) with Beethoven’s 4th piano concerto, conducted by Christoph Eschenbach @christoph.eschenbach .
It’s an orchestra I have loved since attending my first concerts and I wouldn‘t have thought to get this kind of experience and chance so early in my life as a musician. Christoph Eschenbach has been one the most inspiring musical figures for me, not only as a conductor but also as a Pianist and wonderful Lied accompanist. I think there is really no better work than Beethoven 4 for this special evening. Would love to see many of my Berlin friends there :) 🥳

Kissinger Klavierolymp 2024. A bit late, but here is a small summary🥳

It was a truly memorable experience to be one of the six pianists getting invited to this festival. After having to cancel on very short notice last year I am very grateful that @alexandersteinbeis gave me a second chance and invited me again.
I enjoyed the friendly and natural atmosphere while spending these 4 days with the other pianists and the jury members, listening to each other‘s recitals, eating together and talking a lot (luckily not always about music). Congratulations to @illiaovcharenko_pianist , @jeremiemoreau_piano , @grazinyte for their prizes and to @simonbuerki_pianist and @jenebakannehmason for their outstanding performances.
Thank you for a lovely time together, see you soon!
Thank you also to the wonderful audience in Bad Kissingen for awarding me their Audience Prize! 🫶🏻

….enough acknowledgements for today🙃
Now preparing the next projects: Liszt Malediction in Denia, Spain (December), some Trio concerts (November) in Sweden and Liechtenstein, and: Beethoven 4 with Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin and Christoph Eschenbach (March 2025)😍
