#MondayMmoment: Between the Streets and the Stillness

With the Leica M11-P in hand, Simon Hird (@simonhird) moves through Morocco with a quiet curiosity, capturing the rhythm of Marrakech alongside the moments that unfold away from the crowd.

Through colour, shadow, architecture and everyday encounters, his photographs reveal a city full of contrast, energy and unexpected calm.

A journey across our beautiful corner of Scotland can often turn into a bit of an adventure... but that's all part of the fun! The weather might change, the view across the hills might simply be too good to ignore, or a flock of sheep might have somewhere to be. Punctuality was never really the point around here.

Eight Lands spirits are made slowly and with great attention to detail. Every part of the process is there for a reason: to make the best tasting vodka and gin we can. #eightlands

For those who usually favour aged spirits, our Barrel-Aged Organic Vodka is certainly worth getting acquainted with.

The Muscat barrel that we chose for our vodka had a life before this release, and some of that earlier influence still comes through in the finished spirit. Think notes of apricots and burnt caramel, whilst still unmistakably a premium vodka.

Discover our Barrel-Aged Organic Vodka via the link in our bio. #eightlands

Turning 30 today, and feeling super grateful for the past few years in particular. Some highlights from this past year, working in some of the most beautiful places, and spending time with some of the best people.

As another bucolic august out west draws to a close, we eagerly await our favourite season at @thecroftcollective. In the weeks ahead the trees and hills will begin to rust and the call of the rutting stags will be heard all around. Time for another log on the fire and a wee dram x

From the vibrant energy of Marrakech's souks to the quieter moments found beyond them, Simon Hird travelled through Morocco with the Leica M11-P and a carefully chosen trio of M lenses: the Leica Summicron-M 28mm f/2 ASPH. V2, Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH. FLE and Summicron-M 50mm f/2 V4. ☀️⁣

Simon shares, "Morocco is one of those places that stays with you, from its rich colours and unmistakable architecture to its incredible people. The Leica M11-P and three M-Lenses were the perfect travel kit: discreet, lightweight and uncompromising in image quality. I found myself using the 28mm most in the narrow streets of Marrakech and for more layered scenes, while the 35mm and 50mm were ideal for isolating subjects and photographing more distant landscapes. The three-lens set-up gave me the versatility I needed while keeping my bag light, which is exactly why the M-System is such a great companion for travel photography."⁣
