When the training pays off 😎🔥

Story time…

about a month after trying and executing this tornado kick - cork combo after @rajaafullo demonstrated it to me, I got a call from @sedi.pk asking if I was available “like right now” to shoot something with @jeffersonlewisofficial .

I knew that Jefferson had a very unique style of shooting and was himself a talented tricker and performer. Of course I said yes on the phone, and then went to send Jefferson a message, only to see a DM from the man himself.

It was clear that I needed to make it happen, and even though I wasn’t at home and definitely wasnt stunt wardrobe ready… I made a plan. I borrowed clothes from @sedi.pk and my bro @jordan.child who was in the area and made a bee line for the meet-up spot.

It was quite serendipitous that the weather was perfect, the first location choice was absolute cinema, and the chemistry was great from the get go with all involved. We had @simphiwe_gk join us and @adampenton_sw came to shoot some BTS.

After discussing the concept, Jefferson said that he had looked through my page and come across the tricking combo and he wanted to see me do it for this film. I had not done it since but I knew that it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

I had never done it off of the spring floor let along on concrete so the step up was real! We shot the majority of our fight in about 3-4 intense afternoon hours and ended up for the finale on the promenade.

The moment came to give the combo a go and I was finding it a bit difficult on tired legs. Fortunately Jefferson was super patient and is a tricker himself so we went over to the grass and he gave me one note that changed everything about my set up and I immediately started landing it consistently.

The trust and patience from the guys was super memorable, and we while we were running out of light… we were fortunate enough to get an extra day to come back for more attempts on fresh legs..

The next day we repped this combo well over 30 times to line up all the elements. A fast moving camera, a technical tricking combo, and reactionary performance by Sedi. One of my favourite days in stunts to this day - and an EPIC short!
