Half Way Mark

We are again evolving,growing,changing

Sometimes "staying the same" can be boring. Stagnant. Complacent.

Free Ocean Yoga is becoming more than just a yoga studio. We are starting to build our identity. Community is also happening here. It started slow. It may take sometime. We are excited for what's to come.

Not just for students but our teachers as well.

Welcoming our new teachers. Whether newly certified or simply looking for a fresh start. FOY is your new "home".

Pigeon pose is a potent yoga posture that deeply opens the hips, stretches the glutes, piriformis, and hip flexors, and relieves lower back tension. It increases flexibility, improves posture, and aids in emotional stress relief. Ideal for counteracting long periods of sitting, it can also assist with sciatic nerve pain.

Benefits of Pigeon Pose:
Deep Hip Opening and Mobility: The pose targets the hip flexors, psoas, and glutes, which helps increase the overall range of motion in the hip joints.

Relieves Back Pain and Stiffness: By stretching the hip area, it helps alleviate tightness in the lower back.

Counteracts Sedentary Lifestyle: It is highly effective for loosening hips tightened by prolonged sitting.

Emotional Release and Stress Reduction: Yogic tradition views the hips as a place for storing stress; holding this pose is believed to release tension, fear, and frustration.

Improved Flexibility: Regular practice enhances flexibility, supporting better athletic performance and aiding in injury prevention.

Improved Circulation: It aids in increasing blood flow to the hip area.

Contraindications: Those with severe knee injuries or sacroiliac (SI) joint issues should avoid this pose.

Modifications: Use props like a blanket or block under the hip of the bent leg to ensure comfort and proper alignment.
Duration: To get the best results, it is recommended to hold the pose for at least 30 seconds to 3 minutes.
