How I met Toluwani (the real story) Honestly, our story started because my friends decided they were tired of me being single. šŸ˜‚ One day, I was in my hostel room with my friends when they decided enough was enough. They took my phone, created a Hinge profile for me, picked out my pictures, and basically told me I was going to give this dating thing a chance. To encourage me, we all sat together swiping through profiles and laughing at the people we came across. Then I saw his profile, and for some reason, I really liked the background of one of his pictures and the shirt he was wearing. It was such a simple thing, but it stood out to me, so I swiped right. Not long after, he messaged me, and from that very first conversation, something just clicked. It didnā€™t feel forced; talking to him felt easy. Before we knew it, our conversations turned into long phone calls, and we were spending hours getting to know each other. During that season, we also joined the Hallelujah Challenge together. We prayed together, grew closer, and shared moments that made our connection feel even more special. Shortly after, I got my dream job at the time, something we had prayed about together, and it felt like one of those moments where you just know God was involved in the story. Eventually, we planned our first meeting in Manchester. My friend drove me all the way there, and I still laugh thinking about how he had already prepared a backup plan. He told me that if this guy wasnā€™t who he said he was or didnā€™t look like his pictures, he was ready to take me straight back home. šŸ˜‚ But then I saw him. And everything just made sense. I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. He was even more handsome in person, tall, and I honestly couldnā€™t stop looking at him. HOW I MET OMOTOYOSI: On 27 August 2023, after a fun evening with friends, I jokingly said I needed a babe, someone I could talk to, chill with and enjoy life with. One of my friends mentioned Hinge, so I decided to give it a try. Then, on 26 September 2023, while I was on my way to meet someone else I had met on Hinge, I randomly opened the app and saw that this beautiful woman called Omotoyosi had liked one of my pictures. I quickly checked her profile and immediately thought: ā€œDamnā€¦ see my wife!ā€ I matched with her straight away and sent: ā€œHer Majesty, donā€™t keep me waiting, just reply me immediately. What a beauty ā€ Before she even replied, I had already jumped into the DMs of two of my friends and told them: ā€œI swear I like her, I am not lying. I want her to be mine. I want to call her mine. I want to spend my money on her.ā€ They laughed and did not believe me, but there was just something about Omotoyosi that felt different from the beginning. We started talking and somehow, the conversations just flowed. We spoke morning, afternoon and night. We would fall asleep on calls and wake up to each otherā€™s snores. We also joined the Hallelujah Challenge together, shared our screens, worshipped, danced and just had fun. Looking back, those little moments helped us build a bond that felt so natural. A few weeks after we started talking, Omotoyosi got the job she had always wanted. I had spoken the job into existence, so that was another confirmation that this meeting was not ordinary. After all, God spoke through His son, PJibs. Within two weeks, we planned our first date in Manchester. When Omotoyosi walked into the Airbnb, I was speechless. She was even more beautiful in person. Have you seen her skin? It was shining! The next day, 14 October 2023, we went on our first proper date. This time, it was just the two of us. Only three weeks after meeting online, I asked her to be my girlfriend. She said yes. As we continued getting to know each other, we found out something mad.
