I thought I knew what to expect, but the desert had other plans.. Save this for the road trip you didn’t know you needed.

In partnership with @visitalamogordo.

I rolled into Alamogordo, New Mexico expecting sand and quiet. Instead, I watched the sunset melt across the white dunes of White Sands National Park, raised glasses with new friends at a Tularosa Distillery under the golden desert sky, ate pistachio ice cream in the shadow of the world’s largest pistachio, stood next to an actual rocket, and ended the trip taking in the sound and view of Tularosa Falls.
This special town at the foot of the Sacramento Mountains just kept surprising me. And a few of these gems, the Tumbleweed Lounge at Tularosa Distillery and Tularosa Falls are in Tularosa, just minutes from Alamogordo, making it all fit into one perfect trip.

I had an amazing weekend in @visitalamogordo ✨ I love coming to New Mexico and every time I come here I feel a sense of appreciation for this beautiful state.

🎈The White Sands Balloon invitational is a tradition that is back and it was absolutely beautiful!! @whitesandsnps is always a good time but watching the balloons fly through the park was epic. We also got to see the balloons fly at the balloon park in Alamogordo.

🎨Loved walking along downtown Main Street @alamogordomainstreet There’s so much art to see, tasty food to eat and cute shops!

☕️We ate at so many wonderful restaurants including @dhlescombeswinerybistro @oppenheimergasthaus @the_drip_coffeehouse @tumbleweedloungenm @pizzapatiopubalamo @foroterocoffee @ceparestaurant

💦Laying in a hammock at @tularosafalls was the most relaxing way to enjoy nature!

🍦Hugging the giant pistachio at @pistachioland and eating some tasty pistachio ice cream was the best ending to this trip!

If you ever get a chance to go to the White Sands Balloon Invitational (like next year!) please do so!! In partnership with @visitalamogordo I attended this event at White Sands National Park outside of Alamogordo, New Mexico and seeing the balloons contrasted with the white sands was so quintessential New Mexico. Add in a yucca (the flower of which is the New Mexico State flower) and my NM heart just burst! More on this event soon but this clip HAD to make the feed. 💕☀️

Are you ready to experience A Murder Mystery Train ride?! Scroll through for all the highlights of this once in a lifetime adventure on the @skyrailway!

First you board the train and are greeted by the most amazing staff who have a glass of champagne ready to hand over, as you are walking to your seat you have the music ambiance of some spooky circus music from the crazy talent of @westinmcdowell! You are then seated, with a breeze in your hair, excitement building, a suspense getting ready to be played out, as drinks are ordered and the train starts rolling through town.

Then it begins.. @theexodusensemble, some of the most talented performers you will ever see, give you a live, over the top, interactive, laugh out loud murder mystery with a circus theme! You even get to vote on who you think the killer is!

And really this all starts with the death (dun, dun, dun..) of Binky the Clown! 🤡 and it somehow ends with a Rat King musical!! 🤣

@skyrailway will always be my favorite adventure and my favorite way to spend an afternoon with an out of town guest! Where else can you be on a train experiencing NM views, having cocktails on a vintage train ride, listening to live local musicians, and somehow also getting a freaking Murder Mystery Musical?!

And some fun facts about the car we were on..Orion, was built in 1922 and she was a Jersey girl before being adopted by George Martin (yes, that writer 🐉!) and his partners in 2021. She was completely refurbished while maintaining all of the vintage original designs, but with some Game of Throne elements. There are over 20 train experiences now offered..check out @skyrailway to learn more!

There’s something magical about watching a New Mexico sunset from a train that carries more than 100 years of history. I experienced Sky Railway’s Sunset Serenade aboard the Halley first class car, and the entire evening was such a unique way to experience Santa Fe. From the beautiful historic details throughout the train to non alcoholic drinks and treats, every part of the ride had something to discover. We enjoyed live music from Edgar Wonder inside the Halley before heading outside to take in the sunset, where we were also treated to an incredible flamenco performance by Nicolasa, accompanied by Ronaldo. Watching the New Mexico landscape pass by while experiencing live entertainment aboard these historic railcars made this such a memorable evening. Whether you’re looking for something different to do with friends, family, or someone special, this is definitely an experience to add to your New Mexico list. Some history you read about but this one, you get to ride. 🚂

There’s a new girl in town, Meet Halley! The newest edition to @skyrailway, a stunning Steampunk historic luxury experience that you can now upgrade to on selected train rides!

Originally built in 1926 and recently restored to this beautiful upgrade option. The amount of details through out this train car (caboose) are amazing and I would expect nothing less from @skyrailway..and each ride with still include local live musicians (@edgar.wonder ) delicious unique drinks, atmosphere for days, some of the best customer service, and NM views!

You can still enjoy the ride inside the train, go to the open car, both OR on The Halley you get to have your own Titanic moment looking at the tracks on the open platform.

Highly recommend checking out @skyrailway for their different rides, it’s not just an outing but an incredible experience that you will never forget!

Did I edit this like a nostalgic montage from a rom com? Yes. Cuz that’s how @folkartmarket in Santa Fe, New Mexico makes me feel. There was a moment during the concert Saturday night where I sat on the grass, eating tacos, surrounded by people dancing, jumping, singing, and laughing after a day working and hanging out with friends…that I swear seemed like it happened in slow motion.

I thought “wow. Am I this lucky? I get to explore the world in a weekend, and share that world with people? I get to share smiles as the only common language with artists and wear their art? Dance in the grass at sunset? Capture other people making these memories too? How amazing.”

Anyway, that’s my IFAM experience. Yes it is art, food, music, work….but mostly it’s people and the unbridled joy they create and share.

Opening Night at the International Folk Art Market (@folkartmarket) might be my favorite night of the year in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

This was my fourth year attending, and this year my agency, Simply Social Media (@simplysocialnm), is proud to sponsor the Folk Art Market’s digital presence through social media and influencer partnerships.

While creating content earlier this week, I met several artists including Liu Xiang and Sarah Horowitz, co-founders of Bridge Indigo (@bridgeindigo), a collective of Miao and Gejia women artisans in Guizhou, China preserving traditional indigo dyeing and batik. Since I lived in China in 2011 and 2012, getting to dust off my Mandarin after years of practicing only on Duolingo was one of the highlights of my week. It’s moments like these that make attending IFAM so memorable.

This annual Santa Fe tradition features handmade art, live music, and global food. Running July 9 through 12, it brings more than 140 master artists from over 50 countries to the Santa Fe Railyard Park (@santaferailyard).

Opening Night may be reserved for donors and media, but you’ll have the opportunity to meet the artists, learn about their traditions, and hear the stories behind their work throughout each session.
