Maraming salamat, Simpol.ph! 🙌

Truly honored to have my story shared on your pages. Thank you, Hanz Daniel Cortez, for listening so well and telling it so beautifully.

To every cook, dishwasher, and dreamer still figuring out their path: keep showing up. The kitchen teaches you everything else. 🔥

When you build something slowly, you learn to live with a lot of doubt.

Years ago, I said I was stepping back from being the face of SIMPOL. It wasn’t because I stopped believing in it. Quite the opposite.

SIMPOL had become so closely identified with me that I started asking myself: Can this grow beyond me?

Because if SIMPOL was really going to become what I imagined it could be, it couldn’t always be about Chef Tatung.

That wasn’t easy.

I started SIMPOL with a simple belief — that sharing what we know freely can help preserve our culture, keep our stories alive, and maybe create opportunities and livelihoods for others along the way.

For a long time, I wasn’t sure where that idea would take us. There were more quiet days than loud ones. More second-guessing than certainty.

We just kept doing the work.

Tonight, at the 22nd Philippine Quill Awards, SIMPOL received three Awards of Merit for Pamanang Buhay and Tahanan ng Lahat, recognized in Corporate Social Responsibility and Diversity and Inclusion.

And I think that’s why tonight means a little more to me.

Not because of the trophies themselves.

But because I can see SIMPOL slowly becoming what I hoped it could be — not just my platform, but a platform we can share.

More people telling stories. More communities being seen. More of our culture being remembered and passed on.

I used to wonder if SIMPOL could grow without me always standing in front.

Tonight, I’m happy to see that it can.

Maybe that’s part of building something you really care about. You start with your own idea, your own voice, your own hands. Then, little by little, other people begin to carry it with you.

Maraming salamat to Advocacy Partners Asia, our SIMPOL team, our partners, contributors, and everyone who kept believing and building with us.

I think I’m finally learning to make room.
