Kicking off my 2026 @adlfringe , I was eager to dive into something new and discover fresh talent. My first stop was @bavarde_adl for Sinatra e de Maria, Emma de Maria’s intimate and jazzy cabaret.

@emmademaria7 captivated audiences with her heartfelt and stylish tribute, Sinatra e de Maria, as part of this year’s Adelaide Fringe. Through her four dazzling costume changes and masterful storytelling, de Maria transported us into her family’s world, framed by the classic songs of Nancy and Frank Sinatra.

From the opening number, it was clear this was no ordinary cabaret. De Maria’s vocals shimmered with warmth and nuance, delivering favourites such as “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’” and “Fly Me to the Moon” with both precision and emotional depth. The show’s structure, a seamless blend of song and story kept the audience entranced. Never knowing if they were about to laugh, cry (hard) or relate to their own personal life. Each wardrobe change marked a shift in mood and era, de Maria went from sleek to showgirl, cleverly underscoring transitions in her family’s narrative.

There were moments of pure heartbreak as de Maria recounted personal and family struggles, her voice showing the passion, quivering on quieter numbers and soaring on triumphant refrains. These interludes lent the performance real weight and authenticity, elevating it from homage to a deeply personal journey.
What makes Sinatra e de Maria special is Emma de Maria’s ability to connect the Sinatra legacy to her own. The result is a moving cabaret that celebrates resilience, love, and the enduring power of song.

A poignant, stylish, and emotional salute to the past, @sinatraedemaria is highly recommended for lovers of classic music and powerful storytelling, a clear reason why Emma de Maria has sold out her debut season.
