Some of you have never been punched in the face—and it shows!

After a serious injury in 2013, I swore I’d learn new sports & skills, embracing being the beginner. Getting humbled became addictive.

In the Parachute Regiment, I learned to fight—an aggressive, no-nonsense environment where mistakes were met with punches. It built resilience. Shoutout to Company Sgt Maj CM for the hardest hit I’ve ever taken 😂.

Moving to Canada, @groovylando got me training at @alliancevancouver & @thesoundmartialarts. Over time, I ended up helping (and getting beat up by) @jameyhorth on her rise to the @ufc—helping others chase their dreams is one of life’s greatest rewards.

Now, as a purple belt, it’s time to sharpen up and compete in June at @bhm2025. Let’s go!

Squash drills, pack outing to Eastbourne (promenading & @thebeachdeck) and a curry. Accompanied by an IPA that really shouldn't work, but kinda does. Tangy.

Film & fire inbound. Tomorrow looking goppers, so planning a board games day.

2024 – What a Year!

The classic cliché of ups and downs, wins and losses & all that BS… but what a ride it’s been. I got to BASE jump in some incredible spots: the Sahara, London, the states, and right here in Canada. I joined the Honour Guard for the Fire Department, even making it to Colorado Springs. Spent a good portion of time and energy in the Downtown Eastside at 2 hall before moving to 20, grew both my company and the security department, helping progress people’s careers & futures in Canada, and set the stage for even bigger things in 2025.

Search and Rescue was another standout year, focusing mainly on the Swiftwater team. Spent loads of time on the dirtbike, and I’m raising little human machines who charge just as hard as I do. Even on the tough days, life’s been solid.

2024, you’ve been wild. But 2025? I’m ready.

Let’s go bigger, better, and harder!

Why my Instagram is a highlight reel?

It may look like I cruise through life effortlessly, with everything falling perfectly into place—but that couldn’t be further from the truth. What you see on my Instagram and Facebook are carefully chosen highlights: the best moments, the wins, and the adventures I want to share. What’s left out are the failures, the missed opportunities, and the tough decisions I face in life and as a man and a leader.

I keep my security work life in the shadows, focusing instead on showcasing the bright, exciting parts of my past and present journey. For me, maintaining that balance—its being an a quiet professional— but vocal on other aspects as if I’m an “introverted extrovert”— One day, the full story can be told, but for now, I’m content with making it look easy. Behind the scenes, though, I’m paddling furiously beneath the surface, working harder than anyone actually realizes.

Presenting life as a constant vacation might be what people see, but the reality is far more complex—and that’s just the way I prefer it. I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently & especially being sick this week it’s given me time to collect my thoughts. Life is fucking awesome focus on yourself, your family & your teams, work harder than anyone else and you will make it to the top.

I was told a quote a long time that I now live by, if you’re loyal to me, I’m loyal to you.

“I’m heading to the top & I’m taking anyone who wants to come with me”

🇬🇧 F I N A L E 🇬🇧

Well, I finally turned 50 and thus the EXPED 5050 challenge has finally finished its 8 year journey!

And what a journey it has been, and a definitely not a solo one!
⚡️ We’ve built schools, climbed mountains, and retraced a WWII escape route from France into Spain.
⚡️ We’ve cycled the Normandy coast, been bitten by many, many beasts and even stair climbed the Empire State Building.
⚡️ We’ve bungyed off the tallest platform in Macau, jumped out of two planes and paid respects at over 110 military sites/memorials all over the world!
⚡️ We’ve run a first ever marathon, which won’t officially exist anywhere, abseiled off a hospital on my son’s due date and got beasted by the National Hong Kong Sevens team!
⚡️ Final stats for full disclosure: 31/50 Missions completed, 803 individual tasks, over £45k raised.

The challenge was always do unique tasks that either pushed me physically or mentally.
However, the most important part was to raise a lot of money for a fair few good causes.
To date, I’ve raised over £45k, with the primary focus being on the SBS Association.
With the Holton 50 watch Project in its final task stages and the Sands of Sacrifice Grenade project, we should hopefully surpass the £50k target with ease, and raise a lot more for a few other charities as well!

A massive thank you to all the individuals and companies who have supported, inspired, facilitated, or donated along the way. I couldn’t have done it without you!

Special thanks go out Ron Burgundy @beavie20 for the final car crash of a drunken interview, but you get the sentiment! We celebrated in 70’s style at @sbombvintageworkshop - a cracking unique venue and a fitting one to finish this challenge.

Stay classy San Diego!

Until the next one….
