#SingforHope harnesses the power of the arts to build happier, healthier communities and foster wellbeing and connection for all people.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Join us for a family coffeehouse, dedicated to all ages and abilities music in the spirit of art for all, Saturday October 31 at 11am, at 88Keys Coffee with the generous support of Sing for Hope. Joining us this month is GRAMMY- nominated violist and composer Diana Wade.

Diana Wade likes to make strange sounds, usually on the viola. In a recent performance of Berio’s Sequenza VI, Diana was praised for playing with “both athletic and operatic ferocity” and “throwing herself into tremolo passages with a physical force that shook her and a sonic one that practically shook the walls” (Mark Swed, LA Times). If none of this is ringing a bell, then you may recognize her for saying “Shia LaBeouf” in that internet video.

Diana enjoys the richly varied musical life that she is cultivating in Los Angeles. Not only can she be heard recording for film and television, but also performing with ensembles such as the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Master Chorale, and wildUp. You can hear Diana on many recent film scores such as: Toy Story 5, Disclosure Day, Whalefall, and the End of Oak Street. Diana is deeply committed to playing the music of our time and has worked closely with composers such as Andrew Norman, Ted Hearne, Kerrith Livengood, and Thomas Kotcheff in the performance of their music. Along with mezzo-soprano Jennifer Beattie, Diana has founded the experimental duo SpacePants. Diana serves as violist, vocalist, composer, and player of a 25 foot long drainage tube.

Diana holds degrees and certificates from Temple University, Cleveland Institute of Music and University of Southern California. Diana plays on a viola made by Tetsuo Matsuda in 2004 that she’s lovingly named Fernando.

In the rare moment that she’s not playing viola, Diana is training for her first weightlifting competition or advocating for the rights of working musicians as a director on the board of the Recording Musicians Association of Los Angeles.

🎹🎶 Bringing music to the daily commute!

There’s nothing quite like a little live music to brighten your day in NYC! We love seeing our subway spaces come alive with creativity, community, and unexpected moments of joy.

Shoutout to @pianomikeofficial for bringing the energy and reminding us that art belongs everywhere — even underground! 🚇✨

Special thanks to @singforhope , @columbusavebid , and @mta for helping make these moments possible.

Last week we got together with our Friends of Anew for a little bit of birthday and a little bit of brainstorm.

We celebrated another year of Anew with the people who make this space what it is, then asked the room what they want to see next. The ideas were big, the conversation was even better, and we left with a long list of things to dream up together.

Thank you to everyone who came out and shared a thought.

We believe belonging should be part of the places where we live our everyday lives.

Not something we only find at home.

Not something that only happens when we make a conscious effort to meet someone new.

But something we encounter naturally, in the spaces we already share.

That’s why our partnership with @singforhope is so meaningful to us.

Together, we’re exploring how art, creativity and public spaces can create more opportunities for people to pause, participate and connect.

Because sometimes belonging starts with something very small.

A song.
A shared smile.
A conversation with a stranger.
A reason to stop.

These moments might seem small, but they can change how a place feels, and how connected we feel within it.

We’re excited to keep exploring what’s possible when we design not just for people to be in a space, but for people to belong there.

More places to pause.
More reasons to connect.
More opportunities to belong. 💛
