It was a great honor to give the opening speech for Egor Lovki – winner of last year’s Bildrecht Young Artist Award 2024. Many thanks to Sira-Zoe Schmid and the Bildrecht team for the invitation!

With his unique mixed technique – mosaic and painting – Egor Lovki creates fascinating masterpieces that balance between material and meaning.

In his latest three pieces showcasing in the exhibition „I smiled but misunderstood“ @bildrecht_bildraum Egor Lovki explores the fragile architecture of our expectations – and how we find our path between reality and wishful thinking. His recurring motif, the tightrope walker, becomes a symbol of life itself: a constant act of balance, courage, and movement.

Congratulations on this wonderful exhibition!
Don’t miss this!✨✨

PALM TREES ARE NOISE

„Pleasant Murmur or Distracting Noise. From Staging the Ordinary to hallucinating the everyday: The palm fronds caress our cheeks like soft brushes, their soothing rustle, carried in from afar, enchants us like the Sirens once bewitched Odysseus in Homers Odyssey. They seem to question what is. Such poetic reflections — thoughts on mere being, on documenting, staging, or generating the everyday, and the resulting considerations in this text — mark the beginning of an artistic search for roots and traces within the ambient noise of today’s media landscapes.“1

In the exhibition Palm Trees Are Noise, Markus Oberndorfer presents excerpts from his extensive exploration of virtual image worlds. The multimedia series of the same name enters into a dynamic dialogue with fragments of related digital and analogue works from the cycles Atlantik Wall and Revisited. At the off-space ada, historically charged objects such as the remnants of the Atlantic Wall around Cap Ferret, popculturally hyper-coded places such as the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles — where palm trees have inevitably become part of its many medial representations — encounter digitally translated palms inspired by Ed Ruscha’s book A Few Palm Trees (1971) and so on. Through this juxtaposition of historically anchored relics, culturally charged symbols, and algorithmically generated image worlds derived from their distillates, a consciously multilayered interplay of history, culture, media development, and hallucination unfolds.

BARBIS RUDER | Mundstücke [Mouthpieces]
OPNENING & EXHIBITION

Silent – an Attempt at Soundless Speech

📅 06.05. - 11.05.2025
🍾 Opening today
📍 @bildrecht_bildraum

Sound without noise, music without tone:
In her performance series Mundstücke, @barbisruder explores the fusion of body and object through silent, hybrid "instruments" made from unconventional materials.
For over a decade, she has questioned how gesture and posture can evoke sound in the absence of voice. Three cycles – video, photography, and live performance – resonate together in the exhibition at Bildraum 01.
