Happy Birthday to my beautiful mother. ❤️

There are some years that change you forever, and this has been one of them. I know this year has been just as heavy on you as it has been on me, and I’ve watched you carry things that no mother should ever have to carry. Through all of the hurt, the questions, the tears, and the days when finding a reason to smile probably wasn’t easy… you’re still here. Still loving. Still giving. Still being Emmah/Ma/Mommy/Mother/Mama Boonie Mama.

I don’t think I’ll ever have the right words to explain how much you mean to me. You’ve been my safe place, my strength, my reminder that no matter how hard life gets, we keep going.

And today, I want you to know that you deserve to be celebrated. Not just for being my mother, but for the woman you are. For your heart. For your sacrifices. For everything you’ve done for your family, even when you were hurting yourself.

21 days ago was our last conversation, 19 days ago you went on to be in a place much better than this, and 7 days ago we laid you to rest. I miss you more than words can express ugly dude. It was such an honor to be asked to speak at your home going service. I could hear you in my head “you said ain’t it mane” 😭 I did what I needed to do though and I already know your spirit was on our babies and that’s what kept them calm & collected during the whole service.
