Sirens ASC Artistic Swimming celebrated a landmark achievement at the first‑ever Little Waves Cup, becoming the first club to win the Overall Score Cup in this newly launched competition. It was a statement of excellence from a growing programme that continues to raise the bar for artistic swimming on the island.

Across the event, Sirens athletes delivered standout performances, securing overall podium finishes, multiple Individual Figures medals, and first‑place results in the Team, Duet, Solo, and Combination categories. Their consistency and composure highlighted both talent and preparation, reflecting the club’s strong coaching structure and athlete development pathway.

What made the triumph even more meaningful was the blend of experience and new beginnings. Some swimmers only joined the programme last term, while others have been part of the Sirens family for years. Their shared progress, discipline, and passion were evident in every routine.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to serve as a Technical Controller at the Little Waves Cup in Malta, and I wanted to share this experience because I think it offers a wonderful model for introducing young athletes to competition.

The event brought together clubs from Malta, as well as teams from Romania, Serbia, and Turkey. Competitions were held for athletes aged 8 & Under, 10 & Under, and 12 & Under, including both figures and routines.

What I loved most was how age-appropriate everything was.

✨ 8 & Under athletes performed a single position, such as a split.
✨ 10 & Under athletes demonstrated a simple transition, for example from Layout to Back Pike Position.
✨ 12 & Under followed World Aquatics regulations.

For routines, the youngest athletes focused on basic elements from families such as Rotation, Airborne, Flexibility, and Connection. Nothing overly complicated—just strong fundamentals presented through creative choreography.

The competition atmosphere was incredible. The athletes were beautifully presented, and the themes were easy to understand and enjoy. One 10 & Under swimmer performed a snake-themed routine with a costume designed to look like a snake along one sleeve. Her movements and presentation clearly told the story. It was spectacular.

As Technical Controllers, we focused on creating a positive learning environment. We even allowed a few minor issues to pass, then discussed them with the coaches afterward so athletes could continue learning and improving.

The event ended with a dry-land celebration—cake, dancing, photos, friendships, and athlete exchanges. No formal gala, just a joyful celebration of the sport.

It was a huge success and a beautiful reminder that competition can be both educational and inspiring for our youngest athletes.

I’m sharing this in the hope that it inspires other countries and clubs to create similar experiences for the next generation of artistic swimmers. 💙

Sirens ASC delivered a strong performance at the Open National Championships of Malta 2026, competing in three team events and finishing on the podium in all of them.

The club earned silver medals in:

Youth Combination

12U Team Free

Three events, three podium finishes — a result that reflects the depth, preparation, and teamwork across both the 12U and Youth squads.

It marks another positive step forward for Sirens ASC and highlights the club’s continued growth in Malta’s artistic swimming scene.

Well done to all the athletes and coaches involved.
