Honoured to be one of the nine organizations implementing Canada Fund for Local Initiatives projects for 2026-2027. 🇨🇦🇯🇲

This week, Cari-Trans Support Group Jamaica attended the CFLI Project Launch, shared its impact statement, and connected with the High Commissioner and the CFLI team. The project will provide trans masculine and gender-diverse Jamaicans with legal documentation support, access to education, employment, skills development, and gender-affirming support, and produce a documentary in community voices.

“Because of this project, next year, our community will be more visible, more protected, and more independent than ever before.”

-Glynn-Devon Bryan

Cari-Trans is deeply grateful for Canada’s partnership in this work @canadajamaica

WE WHO LIVE HERE - Part 1 of 2.

This is the first half of the conversation.

Trans masculine, masculine-presenting, and gender-diverse people in the Caribbean, sitting together, speaking freely, and redefining what pleasure means beyond survival.

We may be different in many ways, but we share the same struggles, the same joys, and the same need to be seen.

This is just one piece of our ongoing documentary project. Soon, you will get to sit with us individually, one-on-one, deeper, more personal. But for now, this is community.

Thank you to The Pleasure Project @the_pleasureproject for making this work possible. Additional support from CVC @cvccoalition And a special thank you to my co-director, Chelsea, for helping bring this to life.

And to every participant who trusted us with your voice, thank you. This project exists because of you.

Part 2 drops soon. The conversation continues.

I tattooed one of my fellow trans brothers today.

He had me tattoo his given name at birth🫟

A lot of people in our community call it a “dead name.” And I get it. For many, it represents pain, hiding, and a version of themselves that wasn’t real.

But for some of us? We see it differently.

That name was the person who survived. That name walked through the confusion, the fear, the sleepless nights, and the hard years before we figured out who we truly are. That name carried us until we were ready to become authentically ourselves🏳️‍⚧️

So honoring that name? That shouldn’t be considered weakness or not trans enough. That’s a warrior’s tribute.

THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE. Is what I mean by meaningful tattoos.

WE WHO LIVE HERE: REDEFINING PLEASURE IN YHE CARIBBEAN- THE TRAILER.

We promised and now we deliver!

This project started with a question: What does pleasure mean to trans masculine, masculine-presenting, and gender-diverse people in the Caribbean, beyond survival?

Through the Pleasure Fellowship, I learned that pleasure is not just about sex, it is about body autonomy, safety, connection, and the freedom to exist without apology.

This trailer is a first look at our roundtable series, real conversations between real people. Some of us are trans men. Some are masculine-presenting lesbians. Some are non-binary or gender-diverse. We may be different in many ways, but we share a lot of the same struggles, the same joys, and the same desire to be seen.

We are stronger as a unit.

This is part one of a larger archive, the documentary is coming. But for now, this is what community sounds like when we stop performing and start speaking.

Thank you to The Pleasure Project for the fellowship and support @the_pleasureproject. Thank you to CVC @cvccoalition for helping us to make this possible. Much love to all participants who shared their stories and community for your support.

Watch. Share. Let them know we are here.

COMING SOON IN AUGUST!

ROUNDTABLE GROUP 2 - COMPLETED.

One more group to go, then we start filming for the animation project.

We Who Live Here is about creating space for trans masculine, masculine-presenting, and gender-diverse people in the Caribbean to finally be asked: What brings you joy? What does pleasure mean to you beyond survival?

"Through the fellowship with The Pleasure Project, I learned that pleasure is not just about sex, it’s about redefining what pleasure looks like outside of that. It’s about body autonomy, safety, connection, and the freedom to exist without apology".

- Glynn-Devon Bryan

We are building an archive, real voices, real stories, real faces. The documentary and animation series will capture what it means to exist in these bodies, in these islands, in this moment.

This work is not easy. But it is necessary!

Thank you to The Pleasure Project @the_pleasureproject for the fellowship, training and the main funding that made this possible. And thank you to CVC @cvccoalition for their additional support, including providing the space and making sure we could bring these conversations to life.

We refuse to wait for permission. We are building the archive ourselves🔥🏳️‍⚧️

One more group. Then we get to work!

On Saturday July 4th, we gathered for the first We Who Live Here roundtable.

Trans masculine, masculine-presenting, and gender-diverse voices from jamaica and Trinidad came together to talk about pleasure, identity, body, and belonging. We mapped where we feel safe, and where we don’t. We shared truths. We held space for each other.

This is what community looks like when we show up.

This project is supported by the Pleasure Fellowship @the_pleasureproject. Thank you to CVC @cvccoalition for your support @cvccoalition .

This is just the beginning of a game changer! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈
