MONTH ELEVEN: august

⛱️ august was a more relaxed research month, but the main aims were to read more jonson, apply for internships, and begin writing up my disease & sickness work
🌞 i spent the first 2 weeks on holiday, no phone, and absolutely no work ! it was just what i needed and i came back feeling very refreshed
🌞 this meant i was able to really focus on my writing and be extra productive when i returned. i spent most days in cafes or at home drawing together my findings on early modern medical representations of menstruation as a sickness
🌞 these are a few of my cultural highlights of the month! 1. seeing @raye live at all points east with an orchestra & choir was a gorgeous and moving evening 2. i popped up to edinburgh fringe to watch the fantastic @sisisthemusical featuring my very talented cousin 3. i finally started watching the hollow crown and couldn't believe how much of richard ii was filmed on the very beach where we were staying on holiday!!
🌞 finishing up with a classic ootd featuring one of my new study essentials and a playlist sneak peek. stay tuned for a post coming next week with all of my study motivation tips...
🌞 and that was a chilled but productive august. only one month left until we've completed a whole year of the phd!

Survived my first festival season in Edinburgh 🏅August 2025 was 19 Fringe shows, 1 dedicated copy of my favourite (living) authors new book, 1 AC/DC + 3 Oasis concerts overheard from my bedroom, several more bottles of hair dye and a fringe impulsively cut with Poundland scissors in my ensuite. Did I love that my commute time was doubled, everyone around me was constantly sick, and trying to get anywhere meant pushing through hundreds of people that possessed no spatial awareness? Not quite. But you know what they say, when life locks you in a hallway with 2 bottles of sparkling wine and orange juice, you make mimosas. 🥂

Watched this show on its first day, and I can confidently say it is worth watching.

So, get your tickets! There is only 5 more days left.

After 9 shows, here’s my tier list.

I highly recommend everyone to watch:
- Potty the Plant (musical)
- Getting Triggy With It: Matt Parker Does the Maths (stand-up comedy)
- See It. Say It. Sorted. The Musical.

What is this selection? Is that Potty the Plant I see?

Final year of university requires being this excited for Potty the Plant, watching another work of Sondheim, and having 61016 in my back pocket.
