Join us in congratulating Black Spatial Relic’s 2025-2026 Conjure Council awardee, Amie! Amie is the lead artist, advocate, and visionary behind Sit With Me. As the 12th of 13 children and a child of Haitian immigrants, my life has shaped a deep commitment to community and expression. Living with MS for the past 8 years, my work reflects the beauty within disability experiences. As a poet and nonprofit founder, I create art that journeys from self-awareness to empowerment. I’m passionate about encouraging Black communities and allies in Houston to embrace art as a path to fulfillment. AMIE stands for Advocate, Motivated, Inspiring, and Encouraging—values I carry into every space I serve and create. Project —> Sit With Me is a call out for people with disabilities and allies to Sit With Me. We are actualizing an artistic experience of the 4 E’s: Embrace, Engage, Express, and Empower. We had an amazing day today supporting a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. @ayejeann started @sitwithme.tx as a way to foster awareness and mindfulness of the arts for marginalized individuals and those with disabilities. Through events like the #sip&paint at the @caribbean.creole.coffee today, she went beyond that mission by not only bringing awareness but bringing together communities that would not otherwise be in the same space!! Sipping on some decadent #haitian #caffeaulait and watching the kids take in the experience was nothing short of amazing!! @ayejeann thank you for inviting us to be part of that experience and please keep up the good fight!!
