Well, the nest is empty...our @umesnews Hawks @tiredmaniac8 is back on campus as a second-semester freshman! 🦅❤️

I’m grateful to proudly rock my University of Maryland Eastern Shore mom T-shirt and trust that the UMES community will continue pouring into Gabe and strengthening his HBCU pride. I pray he fully embraces the gift of attending an institution where our ancestors laid a foundation of educational excellence, community engagement, and future achievement.

Tsion officially launched into her own apartment, and my heart is overflowing! 🥹❤️ @thrifftyfingies

This moment represents so much more than a new address or a set of keys. It is a testimony to every valley she has walked through, every difficult step along her journey of healing and recovery, and every time she chose to keep going, even when the road felt unbearably hard.

I have watched her fight, grow, heal, and slowly find her way back to hope. And today, I watched her step into a space of her own, a beautiful reminder that the valley is not where the story has to end.

What a testimony to the power of hope, faith, prayer, and perseverance! God has been faithful through it all, and I could not be prouder of the courageous young woman she continues to become.

Here’s to new beginnings, continued healing, peace within these walls, and the beautiful life ahead. My baby has launched! 🙌🏾🔑🏡❤️

Today, 22 years ago, after 10 weeks on bed rest and several trips to the doctor, Josiah... King Josiah was born.

As I shared in my story, this year, after three years, is hitting different. Or maybe it's hitting exactly as it should.

Today, Tsion, Gabe, and I visited one of our favorite places- Great Falls, a place that holds so many beautiful memories with Josiah. Over lunch, we shared our favorite stories of him. Every single one carried the same thread... love.

So, I wanted to share this video and a verse from the poem I wrote in honor of Josiah.

"So as I celebrate my son...
I celebrate the King he was.
The King he remains.
The King whose life continues to ripple through ours.
May we remain loving.
May we remain.
Like Josiah."

So I did a thing last night. An emotional yet liberating thing. I shared a spoken word piece honoring Josiah's birthday month and Black Men's Mental Health Awareness. Its a remix of sorts, as it is a combination of pieces, one written by a dear friend @talayassimpson and others from my journal. Guess you can call it a mother's love letter to her son, offered as a message, a movement and a gift I hope to others.

Honest moment here...

One, I had to fully recover from the ridiculously fun yet physically draining adventure we had @beatthebomb celebrating your birthday (50, and army crawling on the floor is no joke😝) And let me just say…thank God for @zionluvgrn wit and laser focus because that game had us on the edge! 😂 Second, I pause to catch my breath because what a journey it has been, son! Nevertheless, what a strong young man you have been. Every step, even the ones where you faltered, you rose and still STOOD! I’ve seen you grow in ways that leave me speechless—embracing challenges, standing firm in who you are, and living out your word for the year: progress. You are a Change Agent, History Maker, and Trendsetter. Seeing how you and Tsion are determined to leave your mark on this world in your own unique way fills me with awe.

Today marks two years since our beloved Josiah took his sunset journey, and somehow, we are still here—standing, breathing, and living. Some days, that’s been the hardest thing to do. Losing you, my sweet boy, made even the simplest act of inhaling feel impossible. And yet, through God’s grace, we continue.

We stand with your laughter echoing in our hearts, your love wrapped around us, and your silliness still bringing unexpected smiles. It’s all you. It’s all God. Because without Him, this kind of loss would break us completely. But instead, we keep creating, living, and loving—deeply and intentionally.

Gabe graduated. Tsion opened her Depop shop. We’ve hosted events to raise awareness about mental health and suicide. And me? I’ve allowed my heart to feel again. To hope again.

We are STANDING.

King Josiah, you are forever missed. Your love fuels us to keep fighting, to keep showing up, and to keep reminding the world that every moment matters. And because God is El Roi—the One who sees, knows, and cares—we trust that even in our pain, we are held.

So today, we honor you. We wear our green 💚 in your name. We hug our loved ones a little tighter. We say "I love you" not just once but as many times as it takes. We cherish every moment.

Thank you to everyone who has loved us through this season. We see you. We feel you. And we appreciate you more than words can express.
