dear softball,

for years, you’ve been apart of my routine, my identity, my passion, you’ve never been just a game. you taught me discipline, resilience, confidence, and how to keep showing up through all the failures. this game has given me more than I could put into words.

thank you to all my coaches, who helped me become who I am today. who constantly pushed me to be better everyday. I am forever grateful to you all for believing in me, and supporting me through everything.

thank you to all of my amazing teammates throughout the years for bringing so much joy into my life. there are countless memories that still make me laugh, tough days we pushed through together, and incredible wins I’ll never forget. you all are what make leaving this sport so hard. I can’t imagine my life without every single one of you.

and to my family, thank you for standing by me through tournament after tournament, long days, hard weeks and my craziness! even from afar I know you all are there for me no matter what, always my biggest fans! I wouldn’t have gotten where I am today without you all.

although this chapter is coming to an end, the memories, lessons, and people this sport gave me will stay with me forever. no matter where life takes me next, a part of me will always belong to this game. forever grateful!

It’s been hard to think that this is a goodbye to playing the sport that has had such an impact on my life for many of years. Thank you softball for all the amazing people you have brought into my life. You truly have taught me so much in life and have built me into the person I am today.

To my family and friends, thank you so much for all the support you’ve given me throughout my softball career. The countless hours of watching my games/practices, driving me to and from practices/games, and always being the people I can lean onto. From the countless calls and talks to the countless hours at the fields, I cannot express to you how much it means to me.

To my two biggest supporters, Mom and Dad, thank you both so much for putting in all the time, money, miles, and effort for me to play the sport that I love. You two have always been there for me for all the highs and all the lows. No matter what, you were always there. Thank you for always reminding me to have fun, play loose, and to keep it simple. I wouldn’t have made it to where I am without all the efforts and support you guys have given me over my career!

Grant, thank you for being my throwing, hitting, and fielding partner. I remember the day you asked to play baseball, and that’s what brought me to softball. Thank you for being my mentor and hitting coach😉 I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish all that I did without you being by my side.

To all the coaches I’ve had, thank you. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for seeing the potential in me. Thank you for pushing me past my limits. Lastly, thank you for all the countless hours you put in to help me become the player I became.

My past/present teammates, thank you for being right by my side through it all. You guys have no idea the impact you’ve made on me over all these years. You guys are like sisters to me and I’m so grateful for each and every one of you. You are people that I can look to for help, a smile, a laugh, and so much more.

With all that being said, I’m super thankful for getting the opportunity to end my career with this team and go even further into postseason in program history!

I don’t really know how to say goodbye to something that has been such a big part of my life, so I guess I’ll just say thank you.

Thank you softball for being there through some of the best and hardest years of my life. You gave me memories I’ll never forget, lessons I’ll carry forever, and people who became my family. Thank you for teaching me how to be strong, disciplined, resilient, and truly understand the meaning of Mudita. Thank you for the wins that made all the hard work worth it, but also for the losses and challenges that helped me grow into the person I am today.

To my coaches, thank you for seeing more in me than I sometimes saw in myself. For the tough love, the encouragement, the extra time, and for never letting me settle. You helped shape me into a better player, but more importantly, a better person.

To my teammates, thank you for making every season, practice, and game feel like something bigger than just softball. You were my second family. Thank you for the laughs, the energy, the highs we celebrated together, and helping me push through the hard times together (Nothing a little ice cream run couldn’t fix). I’ll always be grateful for the bond we shared.

To my family, thank you for everything behind the scenes that I probably didn’t thank you for enough in the moment. The rides, the long days, the money, the time, the sacrifices, and especially the unwavering support. Thank you for always being there in the stands, for calming me down when I was stressed, and for believing in me through it all.

Softball, you gave me so much more than a game, and for that I am grateful. But I am excited to see what the next chapter holds.
