When young women receive less encouragement to explore science and math, fewer go on to pursue STEM education and careers.

Worldwide, the McNulty Scholars Program is changing that.

From Hunter College (@huntercollege) to Saint Joseph’s University (@saintjosephs) to Ashesi University (@ashesi), we support undergraduates exploring STEM with leadership training, research opportunities with faculty, and mentorship to help them thrive.

This hands-on experience is proven to make a difference in their academic aspirations and career prospects.

For over a decade, the McNulty Foundation has pioneered programs dedicated to empowering and supporting young people to lead. 🌍

Through initiatives such as Hunter College’s McNulty Scholars, the John P. McNulty Program for Leadership in Science and Mathematics at St. Joseph’s University, and Villanova’s Anne Welsh McNulty Institute for Women’s Leadership, we see leadership grow and new ideas come to life.

Recent events like Hunter’s Inaugural McNulty Chair for Science, Innovation & Leadership gathering and a session at St. Joseph’s featuring Dr. Amy Cheng Vollmer highlighted the transformative role of connection, mentorship, and collaboration in advancing women’s leadership across disciplines—particularly in STEM.

Alongside our President, @awmcnulty, we were thrilled to visit our partners recently at the John P. McNulty Program for Leadership in Science and Mathematics and hear from keynote speaker Amy Cheng Vollmer, PhD, Professor Emerita of Biology at Swarthmore College.

Dr. Cheng Vollmer spoke to our community of students, parents, faculty and university leaders about how to support the advancement of women in STEM. Using nature as a model, how can we cultivate an ecosystem of growth, resilience, recovery and cooperation in how we recruit, train, and support women in STEM?

Our students left feeling energized and motivated, fueling their passion as they pursue their STEM degrees and work toward becoming the next generation of leaders in science and math.
