📍Located about 35 min outside of Cottage Grove, OR, The Gem is easily one of the best runs in the PNW. 10ish skate-able miles of nearly perfect pavement is split between four varying sections filled with flowy fun, shit-your-pants chicanes, combo breakers, drifty hairpins, a warp speed straight-away and a booze crooze bomb out. Endless fun for standers or puck down rail grabbing.

🏕️ Group camping is available on the hill starting Friday 6/26. There is a creek at the bottom to splash your face and cool your feet, plus multiple trailheads to waterfalls and a dope swimming hole waterfall on the way in/out with some good little rock jumps.

🤝 All are welcome, but please do not skate above your skill level. This is a very secluded road with multiple sections of varying difficulty. Some include high speeds and required drifting/braking. Skate at your own risk. This is not a race. The safety of yourself and the people around you should always be your first priority.

The mini Hades is the definition of a race board and the ultimate grip machine. We released the board in 2018 and it was one of the first narrow race boards on the market. It started a new trend and inspired many other boards. Even now it is still relevant and the first choice of many riders who want to send it hard.

The video was the introduction of the Mini Hades. It was released on the Skate Slate YouTube channel only.

The 2023 version of the Mini Hades features an additional, shorter wheelbase option at the front. This makes it possible to be even closer to the front truck and increases control and agility.

We will be discontinuing production of this board, but we are still accepting orders until the end of the year. Order soon if you want one.

36/100. Central Mass Skate Festival holds a very special place in my heart. A fabled event that took over the streets of the small town of Harvard, Massachusetts.

In 2018, it was the only year I competed in the race and didn’t make the finals. I crashed out in the quarters due to patchy conditions and running slicks. Regardless of outcome, I knew I’d be there to take photos of the legendary Slide Jam. In 2018, I shot the event for SkateSlate.

This photo captures the essence of CenMass for me. @tomleary is synonymous with the east coast Freeride scene, tossing blunt toe checks at speed on a set up that’s made of distinctly east coast components.

Mike Girard put on one hell of an event and created a culture that still lives on today. I’m thankful for the four years I got to attend this formative event to so many.

I still wonder which event will be the spiritual successor to CenMass. What do you think?

35/100. Devil’s Peak 2018 was my first time experiencing a Colorado Downhill event.

Justin Rolo hammered out the kinks from the first Devils in 2017 and put on an absolute masterclass in event management and production. This race brought out many heavy hitters and saw Dane Hanna take the win.

At this point in time, I had just finished spending a whole summer living in Vancouver, British Columbia. @the_papa_les brought me on to shoot for @skateslate which was a formative step in my photo career. The platform of SkateSlate allowed me to get my name out there and the support I received from the racers and community that summer solidified that I wanted to go deeper into photography.

Devils was one of the first events in the USA that I shot as a working event photographer as most of the other events I shot were in Canada. I’m looking forward to the next few days of posting to tell that story.

Drop a comment about your favorite Devil’s Peak memories. The times we had at high elevation on Guanella Pass are some I’ll never forget.
