those who've known me for a while know that my life has always been about animation. it's the thing that's been stuck on my mind since the first day I remember Being, as in A Living Breathing Thing?
i remember being a kid zapping through channels on TV (jetix!), reading any random magazine that featured an interview or information about the shows I loved, going on Cartoon Network Dot Com (mom, can you type "cartoon network" for me? I can't spell that), asking my brother "how long do you think it took to make Shrek?", all the while thinking "if one day I am able to be anything like the people who make these, I'll be happy forever."

adulthood came not without its frustrations, though, especially with not being able to study animation in school. I got a design degree at FAUUSP instead, which I'm incredibly proud of and which took hard work to get through. as much as I grew to love it, it was never the dream. it was the closest, most doable version of it I could find. I made peace with that, yet there was always a small ache underneath it; a "what if" I didn't let myself sit with too often. I've been fortunate enough to claw my way through an art career alongside that degree, and I'm so thankful for everyone who's helped me in this journey. it's been both hard and immensely rewarding!

you can guess, then, how much attending Gobelins means to the person telling you this short-ish life story. these two short, but mighty weeks have shown me that there's a community for me out there: one that is as passionate, as friendly, and as supportive as any artist could possibly hope to find. not only is the school itself everything I've been dreaming of, but the wonderful people I've had the opportunity to meet here are a body of incredible, awe-inspiring artists, writers, storytellers, friends. what a blessing it was hearing your stories, ideas, and unique perspectives on this world. it boggles my mind how creative and skilled you are.

Last year our awesome team at Twisty Tiger had the opportunity to work on a short film, which was our first venture into 2D rigged animation! Since then, we have incorporated more 2D rigging into upcoming productions. 🐯

Our awesome background team completed over 45 backgrounds for this short as well!

✨ Earlier this summer, SCADstory Atlanta was launched, an immersive experience created by @brcimaginationarts . This one-of-a-kind journey surrounds visitors with striking animation, custom-crafted scents, cinematic effects, and a sweeping original score. ✨

We at EYEBOLLS were proud to be tasked with the creation of the animation and design for this project. We were especially fortunate to have the incredible @pascalcampionart design our backgrounds, alongside a host of other immensely talented artists (listed below) who brought this fully immersive experience to life. 🎨

The experience spans three rooms, each telling a part of the story in its own distinctive way.

PARTY LOG 28

The party escaped the depths of Hallsmouth, succeeding in their task and locking it up so none may be exposed to the dangers therein again. Now, as they return to the capital, they must face the consequences of their actions:

The city is still in lockdown.

It's been two weeks since last they met the city's solid walls, and since then none have left and none have entered. Outside are camps of resource deprived and starving citizens and travelers who are at the brink of a riot. They want to see their families. They want to come home.

So we Ignite the riot.

In the end, only the party manages to press through the doors, in company with their companion and pseudo-daughter Adolyn (4th slide), as soldiers slaughter the people they were sworn to protect.

This is not the order of Light Alyra imagined it to be.

As we traverse the decrepit streets, the starvation and fear around us evidence of the King's neglect of his people, we march towards the central clock tower with one goal in mind: Save our employer, Trucy, and put an end to this chaos.

The tower, however, was a trap. The mindflayer Masters of this maddening conspiracy tricked us, with guards at the ambush. When diplomacy failed, our hands were forced to battle, and with no safer way to journey the streets we adopted their armor and identities as our own.

Eventually we make it to the castle to seek the creature masquerading as the King's advisor, knowing it belongs to the conspiracy. Whilst there, we discover the dusty chambers of Alyra's vanished father; Erydian Lightkeeper; the elven paladin who once guided the first Light-believing king to overtake this country centuries ago.

He isn't here, though Alyra finds his old journals, suggesting he was trying to find a "cure" for her heretical magic. Furthermore, there are whispers amongst the castle staff that his ghost wanders the halls...

It's all too much for her. She timidly asks for a hug from the cursed and unfeeling barbarian, only - hugging Alyra, Vee FEELS something - and desperate to feel more she pulls Alyra in for a second.

🌞PARTY LOG 27🌞

Their trials did not end with the spirit mech in the tower.

Facing foe upon foe, our heroes eventually gather that in order to get what they want from this decrepit place they must venture into the center of the city; indeed, they must infiltrate the abandoned and construct-infected castle which looms far above their heads.

They are met with one challenge after another, the next one greater than the last, until they find blueprints for the Abberation-Slayer weapons they intend to make, and finally kill the illusive Dreamer deep within the castle walls. However, upon its destruction they hear a rumble. Indeed, they are faced with a race against time as magma trickles down atop the castle, threatening to burn them alive.

When the exit is finally within reach, a pool of molten rock has gathered to block their path - indeed, the floor. is. lava. Having to invent their own ways of escape, and knowing she would fail any physical challenge, Alyra turns to Vee and beckons her to meet her on the other side as she casts a spell to guide her ally to safety, before she steps back and vanishes into a flurry of iridescent color. When she re-appears on the safe side in the same flurry, her eyes lock with Vee. Something is exchanged between them...
