“The measure of who we are is how we react to something that doesn’t go our way.” ~
Option B . by @sherylsandberg .
.
When shit goes wrong, we feel disappointed, or perhaps hopeless.. how quickly do you realise that you are not a victim, and reclaim your power.. do you find strength to get back up? If option A is no longer an option.. can you face adversity, enjoy change, and find joy in option B? .
.
Last week after successfully teaching some classes, just as I was coming into my element, it all went wrong!
Long story short..home studio can’t carry on, and this “solid” plan that I had is no longer working. Everything fell apart.. time to pack up my dream?!
At first I was filled with disappointment.. but then I remember my new year intention is : learning how to fail spectacularly.. and enjoy the process of problem solving. BINGO! One week in Jan and there I have my fail attempt #1!
Of course it’s easier said than done, but I snap out of victim mode as quickly as I could. Gave myself time to process and regroup (with #selflove ) - Pick myself up & came up with a new game plan!! For the few days when I felt lost and confused.. I just had to hold onto faith, I trust that this path isn’t working because the universe is guiding me to the right path..something bigger! I asked for guidance, and simply surrendered to let go of what isn’t working ( as much as I wanted it to..)
Then new ideas came.. and I could take actions & move forward with my option B. So watch this space for some exciting new direction. I know things will never be completely smooth, or it might also not work.. then I will just come up with option C then! .

I’m a working a progress, welcoming failure/ lessons/ guidance ( whatever you call it) Bring it on! . **please share any tips on dealing with adversity/ problems/ waves of emotions when shit goes wrong

“Don’t move on auto pilot, move with intention and connection; truly F E E L ...”
~ @sara_fakih .
.

I came to Sara’s @butiyoga yoga class at Gymbox during a tough time in my life.. she was the first person who introduced to me what yoga really is ... it’s more than just a workout. She made me feel, she made me look into the mirror when I didn’t like myself, but then week after week, I started to truly see me again, I found strength! This one little spark was the start of this whole new journey...
.

Sara supported me when I first came up with the ZenseSpace concept; she helped me got my first ever @yogi.bare mat (which has now travelled everywhere with me) ; She lead me to @theyogapeople family; She shared words of wisdom just before I was about to teach my first public yoga class (& nearly pooped my pants) .. most of all she inspired me to be 100% authentic! .

Sara I’m so grateful for you angel..🙏🏻💕 keep inspiring! ✨
You never know where one yoga class can lead someone to...

THE PROCESS -
Creating anything takes time, and requires many steps. The outcome is great, sure! But learning to enjoy the process is key... this artwork is simply the compound effort of tiny line after line, after line... layer after layer..
. “When you fall in love with the process rather than the product, you don’t have to wait to give yourself permission to be happy...Ultimately, it’s your commitment to the process that will determine your progress”
~ @jamesclear . Atomic Habits . .
So today start step one, tomorrow step two.. and before you know it you’d be taking that step 1000!! 👣 enjoy the process x

. D U L C E . . “ Inhale Prepare; Exhale you’re there. “
~ @dulce_mandala .

If you are in @theyogapeople family, you’d be familiar with dear Dulce’s saying! She would literally exhale & land in the most impressive asana..with so much ease & control.. and She IS THERE! 🤸🏾‍♀️😮 I always “inhale prepare”, but more likely “exhale Face plant! “ 🤪🤦🏻‍♀️ .

Although I cant always follow Dulce’s quote on the mat, I have found it incredible useful when I apply this quote in life!
Everytime I’m about to do something that I’m scared of, or I don’t think I am capable of...I hear her gentle voice... I take a deep inhale ~ to prepare myself; and exhale ~ I find strength & I go for it! .

Sometimes all you need is the power and courage of that one single breath, and before you know it, you are already THERE! .

Thank you for inspiring me Dulce, and for your kind teaching! So much love to you 💕 .

“Find freedom in the breath.
Find freedom in the movements.
Find freedom in every experience”
~ Marina De Lima @marinad31 .

This gorgeous teacher inspires me with a life fills with adventure.
.
Her beautiful quote reminds me that we can all be free ~ free from fear, free from anchors ( our jobs, our identity) free from our trauma and our past... we just need to FIND THE FREEDOM.
How?
When we breathe & move & connect back to the core of ourselves, that’s when healing begins. ( that’s why yoga is so wonderful.. it is breath & movement!) When we let go of our old story/ patterns/ limiting believes, then we are free from the external circumstances! That’s when true freedom begins! .

“Think of the magic of that foot, comparatively small, upon which your whole weight rests. It’s a miracle, and the dance... is a celebration of that miracle.”
~ Martha Washington
.

A mindful practice -
when we forget what a miracle life is, what a miracle we are.. simply look at our hands & feet, feel them, feel the ground, be here! And remember the wonders they can do. What these amazing little things do for us everyday. Be grateful that we have them. Don’t let these miracles go to waste!! Dance, run, write, give a helping hand, create magic...use them wisely, with purpose and intention!

There is something I love about an unfinished piece of drawing... Something so beautiful about the process, where I have only observed the shadows, and a new creation is starting to form, to take shape! .

But why is it so hard to appreciate the process and the journey when it comes to life?
Why do we chase “outcome”... are we even sure that the “outcome” is better than the “process” ? (Sometimes I genuinely love the unfinished piece more than The completed one😝) The project we call “life”, the “healing journey” we are on, is never finished... until it’s finished 😵
so start embracing the incompleteness, appreciate it for what it is NOW, see the beauty of your life as it is right now! .

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums ... especially my own!! 💕
.

My relationship with my mum has transformed immensely since I started my yoga/healing journey... For years, I found her triggering and I would get angry & turn into an absolute brat!! I didn’t know why... until I begin to understand a bit of transpersonal psychology and my own pattern...I didn’t realise “I am my mother”, we have the exact same patterns, insecurities, triggers. I’ve been trying so hard to abandon her view of the world, yet they are within me. What we all truly seek is the approval of our parents ( whether you like to admit it or not)
Instead of pushing her away, I turned to her for help. I invited her to do this inner work with me.. and I am so fortunate to have a mother who has an open mind! We are both terrified of change & uncertainty, but I explained to her that in order for me to let go of my fear/ shame/ guilt, what Would help is for my mum to tell me that I CAN do it.. that I am enough AS I AM!! Her loving words & new found trust in me has certainly helped in my healing process. I know I’m lucky to have an amazing mum.. Believe me, it was not an easy transformation, you must first admit to yourself what you don’t want to see, then decide to break the pattern. You must drop the blame and see your parents with compassion, understand their patterns are from their parents!
But i promise it is so worth it to have our relationship transformed to where it is now!! We are open, honest, we don’t “need” each other ( as much) but we “want” to spend time together (more). Codependency is evolving to unconditional love... it’s progress!
.

This Mother’s Day, think about how you can love your mum better? That phone call should not be out of obligation, but out of want and love 💕 . ✨your mum could be the secret path in healing your deepest darkest wounds!!! .
🌿 also happy mothers day to Mother Earth... be kind to her! 🌱
