𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 (n.) the high achievement, resilience, and success demonstrated by Black individuals, both individually and collectively. It is a celebration of Black identity and leadership, while also serving as a powerful survival strategy and a means of defying and overcoming systemic racism and historical oppression.

this past Juneteenth weekend I had the honor of being apart of the collective blueprint. As a black woman, being a tattoo artist is a small demographic; it’s a dream most people don’t see truth in. I chose the path because failure isn’t an option, because I was told no my entire life and still alchemized a yes. I’ve only been doing it for 3 years but my entire life I knew what I wanted to be, I know my purpose and I love that tattooing is apart of it.

In 2026, racism is still a torch burning against our community; I’m grateful for opportunities like what @tattoopartyhampton has done because it provides resilience, hope, and inspiration. I’m grateful to be an anomaly coming out the 803, I was labeled a menace to society in my youth, I was told I’d be another victim and it’s unfortunately common how the justice system fails us, hence Cyrus Belton, Karmelo Anthony. I enjoy proving these folks wrong, and I enjoy being surrounded by my community that feels the same.

Your art is only as strong as the body that creates it! Tattooing is a grind—long hours, hunched over, and steady hands required. Taking care of your health means taking care of your craft.

Tattoo artists and artist family, let’s get in the gym, stay strong, and level up our work! Who else is putting in the reps for longevity in this industry?

Tag a tattoo artist who needs to hear this!
