Structuring a case isn’t just about frameworks, it’s about clarity and completeness.

After 300+ interviews with candidates across North America, Europe, and Asia, Patti noticed most stumble on the MECE principle: mutually exclusive, collectively exhaustive. Think of it like baking, wet vs. dry ingredients, no overlaps, nothing missing. In case interviews, each bucket must stand alone, and every part of the problem must be covered.

This is exactly what Skillflo drills teach you. You get realistic practice with AI pushback so your structures are tight, complete, and naturally MECE, no guesswork, no messy overlaps.

One of the biggest challenges in case interviews? Structuring your answer under pressure.

After 300+ candidate interviews across North America, Europe, and Asia, Patti noticed a pattern: candidates often dive into details first and lose the interviewer. The strongest candidates start top-down, problem statement, key buckets, then supporting details and can pivot naturally when the case twists.

That’s exactly what practicing with Skillflo teaches you. You get realistic cases, AI pushback, and instant feedback on your structure and clarity, so frameworks like the Pyramid Principle actually stick, instead of just sounding good on paper.

One of the most common questions we get is “How many cases do I need to do?”

Her answer surprises people.

Case prep isn’t about stacking 30 identical profitability cases and calling it a day, just like caramel isn’t made from one ingredient. You need range.

After interviewing 300+ candidates across North America, Europe, and Asia, Patti saw the same pattern over and over:

Candidates who only practiced one case type looked polished… until the interview took a turn.

Strong candidates had depth and flexibility.

They’d mixed profitability with M&A, growth, supply chain, and unfamiliar twists, so nothing rattled them.

That’s why variety matters more than raw volume.

Twenty near-identical cases won’t help you when the interviewer throws you something unexpected.

This is exactly how Skillflo is designed giving you exposure to different case types and realistic interviewer pushback, without burning through your friends or memorizing scripts.

🎯 Practice smarter, not louder

Most people think MBB interviews are won by grinding cases for months and memorizing frameworks.

Patti disagrees.

After going from Analyst to Partner in 7 years at McKinsey and interviewing 300+ candidates across North America, Europe, and Asia, she’s seen exactly what actually separates strong candidates from everyone else and it’s not brute-force prep.

The best candidates don’t sound rehearsed.

They stay sharp under pressure, recognize patterns on the fly, and stay calm when the case gets messy.

That’s why Patti’s advice is counterintuitive: prep too early and you risk burning out your intuition. Prep too rigidly and you lose flexibility. Interviews reward fresh thinking, not perfect recall.

This is the kind of insider perspective you don’t get from case books or Reddit threads.

And it’s exactly why we’re building Skillflo to help candidates practice thinking like consultants, with realistic pushback, ambiguity, and feedback that actually sharpens intuition.
