About the author @skippingstonepress 🤩

Toronto children's author Kathleen Gauer writes books that encourage children to be imaginative, kind to others and grateful. The Wish Carvers is Kathleen Gauer's third book. Other published works include illustrated children's books High in the Sky, For No Reason, and Bathtime Fun!, as well as poetry, and magazine and newspaper articles. Her books have been acquired in libraries across Canada, Australia, New Zealand and also Great Britain and the USA.

Kathleen worked as an associate editor for a Toronto community magazine for 15 years and as an arts columnist for the Etobicoke Guardian newspaper. She retired as a Special Education Teacher's Assistant with the Toronto District School Board after 29 years.

When not writing or reading, this active grandmother enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, yoga, knitting, travel, golf and singing in a local choir. She also volunteers with IBBY Canada's Reading with Newcomer Children Program and does author visits and story time programs in schools and libraries.

Bathtime is FUN!!!
You will will find out why in this bubbly, exciting and imaginative tugboat adventure. Because using your imagination...you really can go anywhere.

This adventure starts with one child, their tugboat, bubbles and their imagination. Once the little tugboat is untied from the soap, it sails off to an island where you can surf monster waves, hug tigers, shake snakes and the tress are covered in chocolate drops, lollipops and gummies.

This place is a wondrous place where you can teach apes to juggle bubbles, deep dive with seals and swim with rainbow fish and slip and slide on whales tails. Have you ever touched a giant squid? You can here, and greet octopuses too, laugh, smile and hang out having fun.

What an incredible book that shows where one child’s imagination can go when they are in the bath. It is a story that guarantees excitement, engagement with wonderful rhythmical text that bounces over each page. What is truly fantastic is the way the illustrations are so playful with diverse characters making this an amazing, joyful inclusive story. Every page is full of visually stimulating illustrations that will heighten the readers enjoyment and spark their imagination and that in turn will create opportunities for discussions perhaps for writing their own story adventure. This one book encapsulates a moment in time that is bursting with pure joy. The story winds down so sweetly, there awaits another adventure for another night... finishing with a peacfull sunset and bedtime.

Sometimes, the stars align just perfectly! I was blessed to meet children’s author, Kathleen Gauer - @skippingstonepress - while I was at @novelspotbooks recently. Yesterday we met for coffee, and we exchanged marketing ideas…although I think I benefitted more than Kathleen did! She has written 4 wonderful books…and in this shot I’m holding The Wish Carvers. She’s holding my one and only The Day the Purring Stopped. But, I’m inspired to write more!

My book and all of Kathleen’s are available at A Novel Spot Bookshop, the most delightful book store ever in Thorncrest Plaza! And Java Joe's coffee shop in the same plaza is so charming too…a great place to meet up with friends.
