Year 2 🦫⚾️

A lot of baseball, a lot of good people, and a lot of memories I’ll keep with me. Grateful for the teammates and everyone I crossed paths with along the way.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3 ✝️

VBA pt 6 — training VBA adjustments

The most effective constraints to alter a hitter's VBA are generally a combination of:
• Pitch shape & location
• Training bats
• Ball-flight targets

A generic strategy:
Pick a pitch & ball flight combo that requires the desired path
Pair it with a bat that exaggerates the flaw

Some basic starting points for creating a flatter path:

Location: near the top, especially up & away
Shapes: Ride FB or same-side horizontal break
Bats: Higher MOI (End Load or Long Bat)

Some basic starting points for creating a more vertical path:

Location: low or below the zone
Shapes: Vertical break or oppo handed horizontal break
Bats: Short Bat

As always, there are many ways to layer constraints to get the desired movements to emerge. The above simply serve as a basic starting point — finding the combo that works for the hitter & is appropriately challenging is what matters most.
